한글 궁체의 美意識 探究

국문 초록

한글 궁체는 한글 창제의 목적과 그에 따른 창제적 원리의 철학적 사고에서 형성 발전된 한글 서예술의 백미이다. 書寫를 담당한 궁녀에 의하여 정형화된 궁체는 선이 맑고 곧으며 단정하고 아담한 점이 특징이다. 서사를 담당한 궁녀란 왕족의 시중을 드는 여성으로, 궁녀 중 직책 및 지적 수준이 높은 지밀의 나인이나 상궁, 혹은 제조상궁을 이른다. 궁체는 엄격하게 통제된 禁中에서 이들이 어려서부터 오랜 기간 동안의 숙련과 교양을 겸비하는 가운데 서사의 실용적 목적 아래 형성된 산물이다. 특히, 이들은 준엄한 규율과 엄격한 몸가짐으로 공공 지향적 조화의 정신위에서 자유와 절제의 조화로운 실현을 갈구하였다. 이러한 과정에서 궁체는 끊임없이 주위환경이나 자연과 융합․조화하며 조선시대의 한글 자체로서 정형화 되었다. 조선시대는 많은 기간 왕후들에 의하여 정사가 이루어졌다. 이때, 왕후들의 공문서 및 문안편지를 궁녀들이 한글로 대필하면서 궁체의 기틀이 마련되었다. 조선시대 궁체는 초기부터 서예술로 형상화 된 것은 아니었으나 외형의 아름다움은 물론 서사자 내면의 性情이 농축된 궁녀들의 일상생활에서 오는 ‘擇善固執’하는 誠과 敬의 마음에서 발현된 것이다. 이는 절대적 我를 배제하고 사회와의 調和를 이룬 克己復禮와 漸老漸熟을 통하여, 자유와 절제를 내면에 응축시킨 人格的 中和美로서 최고의 整齊美․謙讓美․淡泊美로 표출되었다. 그러므로 한글 궁체는 문자를 통해 자기의 사상과 감정을 예술적 형상으로 표현하는 동시에 인격을 수양하는 중요한 수단의 하나로서 인격완성에 최고의 가치를 가진다.

영문 초록

Hangeul Gungche is the court style of writing the Korean script that expresses own beauty throughout the natural possession of Korean style; it has the purpose of Hangeul creation and creatively developed its subsequent principle of the philosophical thought. Gungche, used by the court lady who is in charge of making copies, is possessed of clear, straight line and neat, tiny character. The court ladies who are in charge of making copies played a role in serving the royal family and they composed of the lady attendants in the palace or Sanggung(court ladies) or JejoSanggung(senior court ladies) in the high position (with high intelligence) of the royal bedrooms. Gungche has been formed based on the practical purpose of making copies, during the court ladies learned the culture for a long time in the strictly controlled Royal Palace since their childhood. Especially, they thirsted for the harmonious realization of freedom and temperance based on the spirit of public-oriented harmony along with the strict regulations and behavior. In this process, Gungche has been formed as one of the Hangeul patterns in Chosun Dynasty in a way of harmony with the surroundings and nature. In Chosun Dynasty, queens had controlled over the governmental system for a long time. At that time, court ladies wrote many official and greeting letters instead of queens which established the basis of court style writing. Gungche was not used as the calligraphic art from the start, but the beauty that can be shown from outside and copier's temperament inside was composed of court ladies' daily routine that comes from sincerity and respect 擇善固執(keeping the virtue faithfully) heart. It is absolutely comes from excluding "I" that was harmonized with 克己復禮(pursuing the politeness by pressing desire) and 漸老漸熟 (gradual maturity) through freedom and temperance that are located inside. Those two characteristics are composed of moral influence and 中和美(beauty of neutralization) that shows off the beauty of regularity, beauty of humbleness, beauty of ingenuousness and calmness. Therefore, throughout Hangeul Gungche, one's mind and emotion can be expressed with artistic figure and at the same time, controlling one's life with this artistic activity values the most that one can learn from Hangeul Gungche.
