탈북청소년 대안학교의 교육성과에 대한 질적 연구: 도시형 인가 대안학교를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 탈북청소년 대안학교의 교육 성과를 탐구하기 위해 특정 학교를 대상으로 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해, 도시형 대안학교인 Y 학교의 졸업생 및 교사 27명을 대상으로 교육성과에 대한 초점집단면접을 실시하고, 면담 결과를 주제 분석 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 탈북청소년 대안학교는 ‘전인적 회복으로 나아감’, ‘함께 살아가는 힘을 얻게 됨’, ‘학업에 대한 자신감을 가지게 됨’, ‘진로 성숙이 일어남’, ‘통일 대비 남북 교육 통합의 기초를다짐’이라는 교육성과를 보였다. 이러한 성과를 이끈 주요 요인으로는 ‘교사의 진심과 전문성’, ‘교육철학의 실현’, ‘교육적 기초를 확립하는 맞춤형 교육과정’, ‘물질적 지원’, ‘지지적이고 안정적인 교육환경’이 나타났다. 향후 과제로는 ‘미래사회를 대비하는 교육과정’, ‘안정적 교육환경 구축’, ‘제3국 출신 학생을 위한 맞춤형 교육과정’, ‘교사의 소진 예방’ 등이 제시되었다. 본연구는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 탈북청소년 대안학교의 성과를 탈북청소년의 전인적 발달과사회적 자본 확립의 관점에서 논의하였다. 또한 향후 실천적 과제로서 교사의 사회적 연결망강화를 통한 교육과정 재구성 역량 함양을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This qualitative study focused on a specific school to explore the educational outcomes of alternative schools for North Korean defector. To this end, focus group interviews were conducted with 27 teachers and graduates of Y School, an urban alternative school, to examine educational outcomes. The results were qualitatively analyzed using a thematic analysis. The findings revealed that these schools achieved the following educational outcomes: progression toward holistic recovery, the ability to live together in harmony, students’ confidence in their academic pursuits, career maturity, and the foundation for North-South educational integration in preparation for reunification. Key contributing factors included teachers’ sincerity and expertise, realization of the educational philosophy, a tailored curriculum establishing an educational foundation, material support, and a supportive and stable educational environment. Future challenges include developing a societal curriculum, establishing a stable eductional environment, designing a tailored curriculum for students from Third World countries, and preventing teacher burnout. Based on these findings, this paper discusses the educational achievements of alternative schools for North Korean defector youths from the perspective of their holistic development and social capital establishment. Enhancing teachers’ capacity to reconstruct the curriculum through stronger social networks is proposed as a practical task.
