명화를 활용한 과학탐구활동이 유아의 과학탐구능력 및 그리기표상능력에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 명화를 활용한 과학탐구활동이 유아의 과학탐구능력 및 그리기표상능력에 미치는 효과를 검중하는데 있다. 연구대상은 만5세 유아 42명이며, 평균월령은 67.38개월이었다. 실험집단에서는 명화를 활용한 과학탐구활동이 실시되었고, 비교집단에서는 명화를 활용한 과학토론활동을 실시하였다. 연구도구로는 유아의 과학탐구능력 측정을 위해 서윤희(2003)가 수정·보완한 과학탐구능력 검사도구, 그리기표상능력 측정을 위해서는 지성애(2001)가 개발한 그리기표상능력 검사도구가 사용되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 12.0 프로그램을 사용하여 독립표본 t-검증을 통해 집단 간 차이를 분석하였다. 연구결과 실험집단이 비교집단 보다 과학탐구능력 및 그리기표상능력 점수에서 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타나, 명화를 활용한 과학탐구활동이 유아의 과학탐구능력 및 그리기표상능력에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of science inquiry activities with famous paintings on young children's science process skills and drawing representational ability. The subjects used in this study were forty-two, 5 year-old children who attended C kindergartens in G city. The mean age of the subjects was 67.38 months. The experimental group participated in science inquiry activities with famous paintings, while the comparative group participated in scientific discussion activities with famous paintings. The ‘science process skills scale (Seo, 2003)' and the ‘drawing representation scale (Ji, 2001)' were used in the process of data-collection. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 computer program and a T-test was used to measure significance. The study revealed that the experimental group’s scores in science process skills and drawing representational ability were significantly higher than those in the comparative group. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that science inquiry activities with famous paintings are effective in improving young children's science process skills and drawing representational ability.
