국문 초록

본 연구는 어머니의 읽기동기와 유아의 문해력 간의 관계에서 유아의 읽기동기와 상상력의 매개효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울지역 유치원에 재원중인 유아와 어머니 각각 279명이 참여했고, 어머니의 읽기동기, 유아의 읽기동기, 상상력 그리고 유아의 문해력에 관한 자료를 수집하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 어머니의 읽기동기는 유아의 읽기동기, 상상력, 문해력 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고, 이러한 과정에서 유아의 읽기동기와 상상력의 매개효과 및 순차매개효과를 확인했다. 본 연구의 연구결과를 통해 유아의 문해력 발달과정에서 어머니의 읽기동기와 유아 자신의 읽기동기는 중요한 변인임을 확인하였다. 따라서 유아의 문해력 발달과 관련하여 어머니와 유아의 읽기동기 그리고 상상력을 불러일으킬 수 있는 다양한 변인에 대한 연구가 선행될 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 특히 유아의 상상력 발달에 대한 심도깊은 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effect of mother’s reading motivation on young children’s literacy development. Specifically, the sequentially mediating role of young children’s reading motivation and imagination was observed. A total of 289 children aged 4-5, their’s mothers and 13 teachers working at kindergarten in Seoul province participated in questionnaire survey. This study conducted descriptive, correlation, regression and bootstrapping analyses, employing SPSS 27.0 and Amos 27 program. The results were as follows. First, mother’s reading motivation positively affected young children’s literacy development. Second, mother’s reading motivation increased young children’s reading motivation and imagination, as well as young children’s emergent literacy developmen. Third, the sequentially mediating effect of young children’s reading motivation and imagination had significant indirect effect with a 95% confidence interval. These findings indicate the critical role of mother’s reading motivation on young children’s literacy development, dual mediated by young children’s reading motivation and imagination.
