국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 창의적 체험활동에서 활용할 수 있는 기후변화 학교 교육 지원을 위한 프로그램을 기상청 자료를 토대로 개발하고 효과성을 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 초등학교 3·4 학년군, 5·6 학년군을 대상으로 15차시 분량의 기후변화 교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램 구성은 현상-원인-영향-대응 4단계로 이루어졌으며, 학년군별 학생용 도서와 교사용 도서로 제작되었다. 개발된 프로그램은 ‘기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도 검사 결과’, ‘기후변화 대응교육에 대한 학생 만족도 결과’, ‘프로그램 운영 보고서’를 통해 효과성을 검증하였다. 프로그램의 검증 결과로 첫째, 개발된 기후변화 학교 교육 지원을 위한 프로그램은 학생들의 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도를 향상시켰다. 둘째, 대다수의 학생들이 개발된 기후변화 학교 교육 지원을 위한 프로그램에 대하여 높은 만족도를 나타내었다. 셋째, 기후변화 학교 교육 지원을 위한 프로그램을 운영한 교사들의 보고서를 분석하여, 프로그램 운영 후 교사의 기후변화 및 관련 교육에 대한 관심과 시각이 확대됨을 확인하였다. 이 연구 결과를 토대로 첫째, 다양한 데이터를 기반으로 현상, 원인, 영향을 이해하고 대응전략을 수립하여 실천하는 과정을 포함하는 기후변화 교육을 실시해야 할 것을 제안한다. 둘째, 기후변화 교육이 학교 교육과정 및 생활 속에서 지속적이고 내실 있게 이루어질 수 있도록 장기간의 체계적인 프로그램을 개발하여 운영할 것을 제안한다.

영문 초록

This study purposed to design an education program on climate change based on data obtained from the Korea Meteorological Administration. This program was intended to support elementary school education and the study also aimed to verify its effectiveness. Hence, 15-hour interventions were created for two grade groups of elementary school: three and four and five and six. Further, books were produced for the students and teachers for each grade group. The program comprised four stages: phenomenon, cause, effect, and response. The effectiveness of the developed program was corroborated through the Results of Awareness and Attitude Test on Climate Change, Student Satisfaction Results for Climate Change Response Education, and Program Operation Report. This verification process revealed several outcomes. First, the developed support elementary school program on climate change altered and enhanced the perceptions and attitudes of all categories of students. Second, most students responded very satisfactorily to the program. Third, the scrutiny of reports by the teachers who delivered the school education support program on climate change affirmed that the teachers expanded their interest and perspectives on climate change and related education. The study results allow the recommendation to conduct climate change education in schools, including the understanding of the phenomenon, its causes, and its effects based on varied data, and to establish and implement response strategies. Second, a long-term systematic program should be developed and delivered so that climate change education can be continuously and substantively implemented in school curricula as well as in daily life.
