특성화 고등학교 학생의 진로 활동 실태

국문 초록

이 연구는 특성화 고등학교 학생의 진로 활동 경험을 탐색하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 서울교육종단연구 2010 9차년도의 특성화고 3학년 학생 및 학교 자료를 활용하여 특성화고 학생의 진로활동 경험을 분석하였다. 먼저, 학생의 진로활동 경험의 실태를 학교의 진로교육 운영과 학생의 진로활동 경험 측면에서 진단하고, 학생의 진로활동 경험 상 차이의 요인을 밝히기 위해 학교, 학생 개인 특성 등을 독립변수로 하여 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특성화고에서 운영 빈도가 상대적으로 높은 진로교육은 교과 및 담임교사 개별지도 형태의 진로교육과 전문상담교사, 취업컨설턴트 등 전문가를 활용한 상담 및 지도였다. 둘째, 학생 입장에서 가장 많이 경험한 진로활동의 유형은 담임교사와의 상담을 포함한 일반 진로정보 탐색 활동이었으며, 학교 전문상담교사와의 상담을 포함하는 전문 진로정보 탐색 활동이 그 뒤를 이었다. 셋째, 학교에서 운영하는 진로교육은 학생의 경험과 대체로 연관되어 있었으나, 같은 학교에서 같은 진로교육 기회를 얻더라도 학생의 개인 특성, 가정배경 요인으로 진로활동 경험이 달라질 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 상기 연구 결과의 의미와 특성화고 진로교육의 방향에 대해 논하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the experiences of vocational high school students in career education. We conducted a descriptive analysis using the 9th year data from the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study, and explored the types and extent of career education that vocational high school students experience in Seoul. A series of binary logistic regressions were conducted to examine how individual backgrounds or school characteristics are related to the career education experiences of students. Our findings show that the facilities and the quantity provided by the school matched with the students’ experiences in terms of career education. Counseling with teachers and offering career development courses were the prevalent forms of career education in vocational high schools. One of the most frequently experienced forms of career education among vocational high school students was counseling with school teachers. However, our results also show that even after controlling for school-level factors, such as school-offered career education programs, the career exploratory experiences of students significantly differed based on individual characteristics and familial backgrounds. The future implications are discussed based on the study results.
