노인의 생산적 활동이 노년초월에 미치는 영향: 자아통합감의 매개효과를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 노인의 생산적 활동이 자아통합감과 노년초월에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 생산적 활 동과 노년초월의 관계에서 자아통합감의 매개효과를 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 충청북도 청주시에 거주하는 60세 이상의 노인을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 373부(남: 132명, 여: 241명)를 분석하였 다. 기초적 자료분석을 위해 t-test와 ANOVA를 실시하였고, 생산적 활동이 자아통합감과 노년초월에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 중다회귀분석을 실시하였으며 매개효과 검증을 위해 Sobel test를 실시 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 학력이 높을수록, 독거가 아닌 경우, 건강상태가 좋다고 인식할수록, 경제상태 가 높을수록 자아통합감이 높게 나타났고, 일반적 특성 중 노년초월에 유의미한 차이를 나타내는 요인 은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인의 생산적 활동 중 경제활동 유무는 노년초월과 자아통합감에 유 의미한 영향이 없으나 사회참여활동은 자아통합감과 노년초월에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타 났다. 셋째, 생산적 활동 중 사회참여활동과 노년초월과의 관계에서 자아통합감은 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 노년초월이 자아통합감과 연관성이 있음을 실증적으로 확 인하였고 이에 따라 노년기를 설명할 수 있는 새로운 개념으로써 그 중요성을 인식하였다는데 의미가 있다. 또한 바람직한 노후를 위한 발달과업을 중심으로 사회복지 실천현장과 정책의 역할이 모색되어 야 함을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of productive activities of the elderly on ego integrity and gerotranscendence, and to analyze the mediating effects of ego integrity. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted on elderly people over 60 years old residing in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk - do province in South Korea. The study analyzed 373 cases (132 male,, 241 female:). To examine the effects of productive activities on gerotranscendence, multiple regression analysis was conducted, and the Sobel test was used to analyze the mediating effects of ego integrity. The results of this study are as follows. First, a higher educational level resulted in a better health status, and a higher economic status resulted in higher ego integrity. Second, the existence of economic activity among the elderly s productive activities did not have a significant effect on gerotranscendence and ego integrity. However social participation activities had positive effects on ego integrity and gerotranscendence. Third, ego integrity had a mediating effect on the relationship between social participation activities and the gerotranscendence. The results of this study confirmed that there is a link between ego integrity and gerotranscendence, and the importance of gerotranscendence is recognized as a new concept to explain the old age through the result of this study. In addition, we suggested that the role of social welfare practice field and policy should center on the developmental tasks for desirable aging.
