국문 초록

본 연구는 20대 미혼 청년이 인식하는 결혼의 의미를 요인 분석을 통해 파악하고, 이러한인식이 결혼의향에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 거주 만 19세~29세미혼 청년 219명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 탐색적 요인 분석과 확인적 요인 분석, 상관분석, 구조방정식모형(structural equation modeling, SEM)을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 결혼의 의미는 ‘결혼의 고유성’, ‘개인주의’, ‘낭만적 애정관계’, ‘전통적 성역할수용과 역할분담’의 네 가지 요인으로 구조화되었다. 결혼의향에 정적 영향을 미치는 요인은‘결혼의 고유성’과 ‘낭만적 애정관계’였으며, ‘개인주의’는 결혼의향에 부적 영향을 미쳤고, ‘전통적 성역할 수용과 역할분담’은 유의미한 영향을 보이지 않았다. 이는 청년들이 전통적역할보다 정서적 유대와 헌신을 중시하고, 결혼을 삶의 필수가 아닌 선택으로 인식하는 경향이 강해졌음을 시사한다. 이에 따라 정서적 만족과 관계 역량을 강화할 수 있는 실질적인 교육 및 지원 방안 마련이 요구된다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to identify and explore the perceived meaning of marriage among unmarried young adults in their 20s and to analyze how these perceptions influence their intention to marry. A survey was conducted with 219 unmarried individuals aged 19 to 29 living in the Seoul metropolitan area. The collected data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings revealed that the perceived meaning of marriage comprised four dimensions: uniqueness of marriage, individualism, romantic affectionate relationship, and acceptance of traditional gender roles and role division. Among these, the uniqueness of marriage and romantic affectionate relationship dimensions had significant positive effects on marriage intention, while the individualism dimension negatively influenced marriage intention. The acceptance of traditional gender roles and role division showed no significant effect. These results suggest that young adults increasingly perceive marriage not as a required life stage but as a voluntary and emotionally meaningful relationship based on intimacy and commitment, rather than on traditional role expectations. Based on these findings, there is a growing need for practical education and support systems that enhance emotional fulfillment and relationship competency in young adults.
