국문 초록

본 연구는 아동기 일반 외상 경험이 성인기 우울에 미치는 영향을 정서조절의 어려움과 대인관계 부적응을 이중매개 모형으로 검증하고, 이 관계에서 성차를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 2012년 한국종합사회조사(Korean General Social Survey) 자료를 사용하여, 만 20세이상의 성인 1,353명(남성: 597명, 여성: 756명)을 대상으로 한다. 연구모델은 SPSS 29와SPSS PROCESS macro 4.2를 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 남녀 모두 아동기 일반 외상경험이 성인기 우울에 직접효과가 있었다. 남성의 경우, 아동기 일반 외상 경험과 성인기 우울 간의 관계에서 정서조절의 어려움과 대인관계 부적응의 단순매개효과와 이중매개효과가발견되었다. 반면, 여성의 경우 이중매개효과가 있었으나, 아동기 일반 외상 경험이 성인기의우울에 미치는 영향과 관련하여 정서조절의 어려움의 간접효과만 유의하였다. 본 연구는 아동기 일반 외상 경험이 성인기 우울에 미치는 영향에 대해 정서조절의 어려움과 대인관계 부적응의 이중매개 경로를 분석하였다. 또한 성차를 살펴봄으로써 기존 연구를 확장했다는 데의의가 있다. 실천적으로는 아동기 외상을 경험한 개인의 정신건강 회복을 돕기 위한 조기개입과 개인-가족-지역사회로 연결되는 예방 프로그램의 필요성을 강조하였다. 본 연구를 기반으로 미국에서 시행 중인 공공보건 이니셔티브인 ACEs Aware와 유사한 프로그램을 한국 사회의 맥락에 맞게 맞춤화(tailoring)하여 도입하는 등 국가 차원의 심리지원 체계에 대한 필요성을 정책적으로 시사점을 제공하였다.

영문 초록

The study aims to examine the effect of general adverse childhood experiences on adult depression through a dual mediation model involving emotion regulation difficulties and interpersonal maladjustment, with a focus on gender differences. This study used from the 2012 Korean General Social Survey(KGSS), with a sample of 1,353 adults aged 20 and older(597 men and 756 women). The research model was analyzed using SPSS version 29 and the SPSS PROCESS macro version 4.2. The results revealed that general adverse childhood experiences had a direct effect on adult depression for both men and women. Among men, both simple and serial mediation effects of emotion regulation difficulties and interpersonal maladjustment were significant in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and adult depression. In contrast, for women, while the serial mediation model was supported, only the indirect effect of emotion regulation difficulties was statistically significant. This study analyzed the dual mediation pathways of difficulty in emotion regulation and interpersonal maladjustment in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and adult depression. Furthermore, it contributes to the existing literature by examining gender differences. Practically, the findings underscore the importance of early intervention and the development of prevention programs that connect individuals, families, and communities. The study also suggests the need for a national psychological support system in Korea, such as a tailored implementation of ACEs Aware, a public health initiative currently active in the United States.
