영아 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 스마트폰 과의존의 관계 : 사회적 지원의 매개 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 영아기 자녀를 돌보는 어머니의 양육 스트레스가 스마트폰 사용에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 사회적 지원을 매개 변수로 설정하여 실시되었다. 연구 대상은 『한국영유아교육ㆍ보육패널』(2024) 자료 중 전국에 거주하는 아동과 어머니 2,775명이었다. 수집된 자료는기술통계, Pearson의 적률상관계수, 위계적 중다회귀로 분석되었으며, 매개 효과는 Baron과Kenny(1986), Sobel(1982)의 절차와 검증을 활용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 스마트폰 과의존은 정적 상관관계였으나, 사회적 지원과 어머니의스마트폰 과의존은 부적 상관관계였다. 둘째, 어머니의 스마트폰 과의존을 설명하는 유의한변수는 자녀 월령, 어머니 연령, 어머니 양육 스트레스와 사회적 지원이었으며, 이 중 어머니양육 스트레스의 영향력이 가장 컸다. 즉, 자녀가 어릴수록, 어머니가 젊을수록, 어머니 양육스트레스가 많을수록, 사회적 지원이 적을수록, 어머니의 스마트폰 과의존 정도가 높다고 할수 있다. 셋째, 사회적 지원은 직접 효과 외에 이를 통해 어머니의 스마트폰 과의존이 감소되는 간접 효과도 있어 부분 매개 역할을 하였다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 양육 스트레스 경감과 스마트폰 과의존 예방을 위한 다양한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between parenting stress and smartphone overdependence of mothers with infant children. To achieve this, data from Korean early childhood education & care panel(2024), conducted by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education, were used. A total of 2,775 children, aged 3∼12 months and their mothers, were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, hierarchical multiple regression, Baron and Kenny’s procedures for testing mediation hypothesis, and the Sobel test. The results of this study were as follows: First, parenting stress was positively related with smartphone overdependence, and social support was negatively related with smartphone overdependence. Second, the variables that explained infant mother’s smartphone overdependence included child age, mother age, parenting stress, social support. When child was younger, mother was younger, mother perceived parenting stress more, and was given social support less, mother was prone to smartphone overdependence. Among these variables, mother’s parenting stress was the most powerful variable. Third, social support was found to partially mediate the relationship between infant mother’s parenting stress and smartphone overdependence. These findings suggest that social support can alleviate infant mother’s parenting stress and smartphone overdependence. Based on these results, various discussions and implications were proposed regarding strategies to reduce infant mother’s parenting stress and to prevent smartphone overdependence.
