국문 초록

The present study aims to reveal how discourse surrounding Koreans in Japan has been formed in parallel with the development of visual media in Japanese society. In particular, it examines affective nationalism by considering Korean entertainers in Japan who ‘came out’ when the Korean Wave began in Japan, alongside the development of the internet in the 2000s. To this end, I examine the appearance and activities of entertainers from the Korean Peninsula in the history of Japanese popular culture, the concealment of ethnic identity among Korean entertainers in Japan in the post-liberation period, the ethnic identity recovery movements and the popular culture-art activities in the 1970s, and the rise of Korean entertainers in Japan who achieved stardom under their ethnic names in the 1980s. Further, I also survey websites on the Japanese internet related to the so-called “Zainichi Geinoujin Risuto” (= The list of Korean entertainers in Japan) from the 1990s onwards, in order to analyse how public perceptions in mainstream Japanese society have evolved up until today. I further identify Korean entertainers in Japan who ‘came out’ in the early 2000s in the context of Korea’s economic and cultural growth and in Japan’s socio-cultural environment, and analyse their activity spheres and Japanese society’s responses following their ‘coming-out’. Through this analysis, it is hoped that the trajectories of Koreans in Japan will come to transcend the wave of anti-Korean sentiment that emerged around the 2010s and be recognised historically as a meaningful foundation for cultural exchange between the two countries.

영문 초록

本研究は、日本社会における映像メディアの発達に伴い、在日コリアンの談論がどのように形成されていくかを研究することが目的である。特に、日本社会で2000年代のインターネット発達と共に｢韓流ブーム｣が始まった時点で在日コリアン出身芸能人の｢カミングアウト｣を通じて感性のナショナリズムを考察した。このため、日本の大衆文化史で初めて韓半島出身の芸能人の登場と活動、解放以後の在日芸能人の民族性隠蔽、1970年代の民族性回復運動と大衆文化芸術活動、1980年代の民族名でスターになった在日芸能人を調査した。そして、1990年代から日本のインターネットで｢在日芸能人リスト｣と関連したサイトを検索し、現在までの日本大衆社会の認識を考察した。2000年代初めに韓国の経済·文化的成長と日本の社会·文化的背景の中でカミングアウトした在日芸能人を探して彼らの活動領域を調べ、カミングアウト以後、日本社会の反応を分析した。これを通じて今後、在日コリアンの歩みが2010年代前後に現れた｢嫌韓流｣を跳び越え、韓日両国の文化的交流の重要な基盤として歴史の中で認められる地位確立への一助となるように期待したい。
