장애인 거주시설과 지원주택에서의 장소감 변화 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 장애인거주시설에서 탈시설하여 지원주택에서 거주하고 있는 사람들과의 심층면접을 통해 장애인거주시설과 지원주택에서의 장소감 변화를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 장애인거주시설과 지원주택 모두에서 거주한 경험이 있는 연구참여자 9명을 선정하였고, 개인별로 3회씩 심층면접을 하였다. 면접 내용은 반복적 비교분석법을 통해 분석되었다. 분석 결과, 3개의 주제와 8개의 하위 범주가 도출되었다. 3개의 주제는 ‘고립의 장소에서 연결의 장소로’, ‘통제된 안전에서 관계적 애착과 제약의 장소로’, ‘객체적 장소정체성에서 주체적 장소정체성으로’로 나타났다. 결국 장애인거주시설에서 지원주택으로 장소를 변경함에 따라 관리된 장소감에서 주체적이고 도전적인 장소감으로 변화되는 것이다. 이런 장소감의 변화는 장애인을 안전에만 머무르지 않게 하고 인간주체성을 회복하게 한다는 측면에서 탈시설 효과를 보여주는 것이다. 그럼에도 지원주택에서 물리적 편의시설의 부족과 지역사회와의 관계형성의 어려움이 나타났기 때문에 편의시설 확충, 시민옹호와 같은 지원이 강화될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the changes in the sense of place in residential accommodation and supportive housing for disabled people through in-depth interviews with people who have moved out of residential accommodation for disabled people and are living in supportive housing. To this end, nine participants who have lived in both residential accommodation and supportive housing were selected, and in-depth interviews were conducted three times for each individual. The interview content was analyzed using the constant comparison analysis method. As a result of the analysis, three themes and eight subthemes were derived. The three themes were ‘from a place of isolation to a place of connection’, ‘from controlled safety to an environment of relational attachment and constraints’, and ‘from objective place identity to subjective place identity’. Ultimately, as the location changed from the residential accommodation to the supportive housing, the sense of place changed from a managed sense of place to a subjective and challenging sense of place. This change in sense of place shows the effect of deinstitutionalization in that it does not allow disabled people only to remain in safety and restores their human subjectivity. Nevertheless, since there was a lack of physical convenience facilities and difficulties in forming relationships with the local community in supportive housing, support such as the expansion of convenience facilities and citizen advocacy needs to be strengthened.
