국문 초록

평양신학교는 한국장로교와 개신교에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤다. 선교사들이 세운 평양신학교가 어떠한 신학사상을 가졌고 형성했으며 그 신학사상의 핵심인 성경관이 어떠했는지는 우리가 꼭 알아야 하는 내용이다. 그래서 평양신학교의 신학사상과 성경관을 연구했다. 그 연구의 핵심은 그 영향을 끼쳤던 평양신학교의 교수들의 신학과 성경관이다. 그들이 본국에서 배운 신학이 무엇이며 그 당시의 본국 개신교와 신학교의 시대와 배경, 상황을 살펴본다. 평양신학교 교수들인 선교사들이본국에서 신학을 배울 때 시대환경과 흐름은 정확무오한 성경관이 위협을 받을 때였고 성경이 고등비평되는 시대에 교회를 다녔고 신학교를 다녔다. 또한 그들이 다녔던 신학교와 교수들이 성경의 올바름을 증거해야 하는 시대였고 그들의 교회와 신학교는 분투를 통해 성경을 변증했다. 그들의 스승들은 개혁청교도적인 성경론을 통해 성경을 지킬 수 있었고, 정확한 성경관을 통해 어떻게 교회가 세워질 수 있는지에 대한 경륜을 가지고 한국에 오게 되었다. 그러한 지혜를 통하여 평양신학교에서 성경을 가르칠 수 있었고 교회를 세울 수 있었다. 본문에서는한국장로교회가평양신학교에서 가르친 성경론을 통해 성경관이 정착될 수 있었고 참된 성경관을 통해 올바른 말씀으로 하나님의 거룩한 교회가 형성될 수 있었다는 내용과 과정을 설명한다. 그 영향으로 오늘날의 한국장로교가 발전되었고 세계교회사에 정통으로 인정받고 선교할 수 있는 교회가 된 것이다.

영문 초록

The Pyongyang Theological Seminary had a significant impact on the Korean Presbyterian Church and Protestantism. Understanding the seminary’s theological ideas, especially its core view of Scripture, is essential. This study examines the theological thought and biblical perspective of the seminary, focusing on its influential professors. These professors, missionaries trained abroad, were educated during a time when the inerrancy and authority of Scripture faced challenges from higher criticism. They studied in churches and seminaries that emphasized defending Scripture’s truthfulness, adopting a strong apologetic approach to uphold biblical authority. Their mentors followed a Reformed, Puritan doctrine of Scripture, helping them maintain an accurate biblical view. Equipped with this theological foundation, they came to Korea to establish churches based on sound doctrine. Through their teaching at Pyongyang Theological Seminary, they instilled a solid understanding of Scripture and successfully established local churches. This paper argues that the Korean Presbyterian Church adopted a firm biblical worldview through the seminary’s teachings. Rooted in Reformed theology, this understanding helped form a holy and biblically grounded church. Today, the Korean Presbyterian Church is recognized globally as an orthodox and missionary-sending church.
