청마 시를 낭송하다: 시낭송극 경연의 퍼포먼스 경험 탐구

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 청마 유치환의 시를 주제로 시극 작품을 창작하고 경연에 참가한 다년간의 경험을 탐구함으로써 예술가-연구자-교육자의 관점에서 예술 창작 활동의 가치를 포착하는데 있다. 이 연구의 대상은 청마문학관에서 주최한 시극 경연 대회에 2021년부터 2022년까지 두 차례 참가하면서 준비, 경연 및 후속 퍼포먼스를 수행하였던 사례이다. 사례 연구의 일환으로 진행한 이 연구에서 수집한 자료는 참여자들의 활동과 퍼포먼스에 대한 사진, 영상, 및 메모 자료 등이다. 시극 경연에서 진행하였던 시낭송 및 퍼포먼스 질적 자료를 해석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우리는 시의 선별부터 연습과 낭송을 하는 과정에서 시인이 처했던 상황과 정서적인 측면을 포착하고 표현하고자 하였다. 둘째, 시낭송과 퍼포먼스를 결합한 창작 활동은 시의 텍스트를 기반으로 시인의 정서를 시낭송가의 몸과 호흡, 연기로 표현하면서 시낭송의 수행성에 대한 새로운 가능성을 열어주었다. 셋째, 시낭송과 퍼포먼스를 결합한 두 시극, <그날이 오면>(2021년 공연)과 <예루살렘의 닭>(2022년 공연)을 질적으로 해석한 결과 시와 연극의 융합이 개인의 내면 고백을 심화하여 정서적으로 충만하게 표현함으로써 관객과의 집단적 공감을 이끌어내는 측면을 포착하였다. 넷째, 시낭송극을 준비하는데 도움이 되는 실기 기반의 교육적 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to capture the value of artistic creative activities from the perspective of an artist-researcher-educator by exploring the experience of creating and competing poetry plays based on the poetry of Cheongma Yu Chi-hwan for many years. The subject of this study is a case of participating in the poetry play contest hosted by Cheongma Literature Museum every year from 2021 to 2022, preparing, competing, and performing follow-up performances. The data collected in this study, which was conducted as part of a case study, include photographs, videos, and notes on the participants’ activities and performances. The results of the interpretation of qualitative data on poetry recitation and performances conducted in the poetry play contest are as follows. First, we tried to capture and express the situations and emotional aspects that the poet was in during the process of selecting the poem, practicing, and reciting it. Second, the creative activity that combined poetry recitation and performance raised the performativity of poetry recitation to a new level by expressing the poet’s emotions based on the text of the poem through the body, breathing, and acting of the reciter. Third, the qualitative interpretation of two poetic plays utilizing the monodrama format, (performed in 2021) and (performed in 2022), captured the aspect that the fusion of poetry and theater deepens an individual’s inner confession and expresses it emotionally fully, thereby eliciting collective empathy from the audience. Fourth, we derived practical-based educational implications that are helpful in preparing poetry recitals.
