도로환경 무질서 인식이 고령운전자의 교통법규 위반 경험에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

초고령화 시대에서, 고령운전자의 신체적, 인지적 기능의 저하와 도로환경의 사회적, 물리적 무질서 인식 등과 같은 복합적 요인들이 상호작용하며, 고령운전자의 교통법규 위반이 증가가 사회적 문제로 대두되고 있다. 이 연구는 고령운전자의 교통법규 위반 경험에 도로환경 무질서에 대한 인식이 영향을 미치는지를 실증연구를 통해 분석하고자 하였다. 신호·속도위반, 불법·위험 운전, 음주·약물관련위반, 공격적·사회적 위반, 기타위반과 같은 교통법규 위반경험과 도로환경에 대한 물리적 무질서, 사회적 무질서, 위험성 인식을 도로환경 무질서 인식으로 하여 두 개념 간의 영향관계를 로지스틱 회귀분석으로 검증하였다. 연구결과 고령운전자의 사회적 무질서 인식이 높을수록 신호·속도위반, 불법·위험운전, 기타위반, 전체 교통법규 위반 경험 확률이 유의하 게 증가하는 것으로 나타났고. 물리적 무질서 인식은 기타위반 경험에만 부(-)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 위험성 인식은 공격적·사회 적위반 경험에만 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 보였다. 또한, 소득이 낮고, 운전 빈도가 높으며, 학력이 낮을수록 교통법규 위반 경험 이 많았다. 이 연구는 고령운전자의 교통법규 위반 예방을 위해 도로환경의 사회적 무질서 개선과 맞춤형 교통안전 정책의 필요 성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

In the era of super-aging the increase in traffic violations by elderly drivers has become a social problem due to the interaction of complex factors such as the decline in physical and cognitive functions of elderly drivers and the perception of social and physical disorder in the road environment. This study aimed to analyze whether the perception of road environment disorder affects the experience of traffic violations among elderly drivers through an empirical study. The relationship between the experience of traffic law violations such as signal/speed violations, illegal/dangerous driving, alcohol/drug-related violations, aggressive/social violations, and other violations and the perception of physical disorder, social disorder, and danger in the road environment was examined using logistic regression analysis. The results showed that higher social disorder perception significantly increased the probability of experiencing signal and speed violations, illegal and dangerous driving, other violations, and overall traffic violations among older drivers. Physical disorder perception had a negative effect only on other violations, and risk perception had a significant positive effect only on aggressive and social violations. In addition, lower income, higher driving frequency, and lower education were associated with more traffic violations. This study suggests the need for improving social disorder in the road environment and customized traffic safety policies to prevent traffic violations among older drivers.
