『畿湖興學會月報』 논설과 梁啓超 학설의 영향

국문 초록

대한제국기 주요 지역 학회의 동향을 파악하기 위해서는 그 상당한 영향을 미친 청국 근대지식인 梁啓超(1873~1929) 학설의 수용 양상을 검토하는 작업이 요구된다. 기호흥학회의 기관지 『畿湖興學會月報』소재 논설을 통해 양계초의 학설 중 구체적으로 무엇을 수용한 것인지 그 영향 관계를 살펴보았다. 『畿湖興學會月報』 논설 중 양계초 학설 수용의 유형은 세 가지로 나눌 수 있다. 성명을 명시하며 인용한 사례, 출처를 명시하지 않고 차용한 사례, 논지를 참고해 가공한 사례가 그것이다. 주로 전통 지식인을 대상으로 교육의 혁신을 설득하는 논설이 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 그런데 그 주제어가 양계초 학설의 주제어와 거의 유사하다. 그 주제는 대략 세 가지로 나눌 수 있다. 개혁과 전통ㆍ흥학과 사범ㆍ국민과 정신이 그것이다. 이는 전통 지식인의 영향력이 강한 지역 사회의 근대화 운동에 비교적 현실적인 이론과 방법이 된다고 여겨 수용한 것으로 보인다. 양계초의 논저 『新民說』ㆍ『變法通議』ㆍ｢論支那宗教改革｣ㆍ｢惟心｣ 등을 수용한 것으로 추정되는 『기호흥학회월보』논설을 통해 그 영향 관계를 엿볼 수 있었다. 이는 대한자강회ㆍ서우학회ㆍ서북학회ㆍ호남학회ㆍ교남교육회 등 당대 여러 학회 기관지의 논설과 어느 정도 공유되는 면이 있다. 따라서 이는 『기호흥학회월보』 논설의 일면 뿐 아니라 당대 주요 학회의 동향과 양계초 학설 간의 구체적 영향 관계를 파악하는 단서가 된다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In order to understand the trends of major regional academic societies during the Korean Empire, it is necessary to examine the acceptance of the theories of Liang Qichao(1873-1929), a modern intellectual from the Qing Dynasty who had a significant influence. I examined the influence of the editorials in the journal of the Kihohunghakhui(=Kihohunghakhuiweolbo), to see which of Liang Qichao’s works had been specifically adopted. The types of acceptance of Liang Qichao in the editorial of the ‘Kihohunghakhuiweolbo’ can be divided into three categories. Examples include cases where a statement is cited with a clear statement, cases where it is borrowed without specifying the source, and cases where it is processed with reference to the argument. A large portion of the editorials are aimed at traditional intellectuals and persuading them to innovate in education. The subject matter is almost identical to the main subject matter of Liang Qichao's thesis. The topic can be roughly divided into three categories, such as reform and tradition, education and old age, people and spirit are the things. This is because the discussions of Liang Qichao, such as persuading the existing leadership, improving the awareness of the elderly, and forming a nation-state, were accepted as useful clues to solve the prerequisite tasks for activating the modernization movement of the Korean Empire. This is because it shares many points with the contents of other academic journals of the time, and it can be said to be an important clue to understanding not only one aspect of the editorial of the ‘Kihohunghakhuiweolbo’ but also the specific influence relationship between the trends of major academic societies of the time and Liang Qichao’s thesis.
