국문 초록

본 연구에서는 부경대학교 교양필수 교과목인 <사유와 표현-자연기술>에서 PBL을 활용한 이공계 글쓰기 모형을 제안하고자 했다. 전체 수업은 ‘글쓰기의 연습’과 ‘실제’ 단계로 구분되었으며, ‘기초 글쓰기’ 과정에서 ‘계열별 글쓰기’로 내용이 자연스럽게 이행되도록 모형을 설계하였다. 이때 계열별 글쓰기는 문제 탐색 및 해결 방안을 모색하는 과정으로 과학에세이의 작성을 목표로 하였다. 이공계 글쓰기에서 학생들이 글쓰기의 중요성을 인식하고 글쓰기에 대한 거부감을 줄이는 것은 중요한 과제였다. 이에 수업에서 모든 글쓰기를 ‘모둠 활동’에서 ‘개별 과제’ 작성으로 이끌었으며, 모둠 활동은 다시 PBL을 활용한 글쓰기 과정으로 구성하였다. 학생들은 이론과 실제가 병행된 모둠별 문제 해결 과정을 통해 다양한 소통의 과정을 경험할 수 있었다고 평가하였다. 이제 계열별 글쓰기는 시대의 요구를 수용하는 방향에서 다양한 사회현상을 과학 기술적인 측면에서 이해하고, 여러 문제 사항에 대해 협동적으로 해결해 나갈 수 있는 역량을 기르는 방향으로 운영되어야 한다. 이러한 점에서 수업 운영 방안으로서 PBL을 활용한 이공계 글쓰기 모형은 학습자의 수요를 반영하여 그 역량을 향상하는 과정으로 효과적이라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this study, we proposed a model for a science and engineering writing class as an example of a PBL-based course within the Thinking and Expression for Science and Engineering program, a required liberal arts writing course at Pukyong National University. The class was designed to move from basic writing to discipline-specific writin, dividing the course into writing practice and actual writing, with the latter modeled after PBL. In this model, PBL serves as a learner-centered activity, a problem-solving process, and a method for practicing science essay writing in class. In scientific writing, it is important for students to recognize the significance and necessity of writing, as well as to reduce their resistance to it. Therefore, all writing activities in the class shifted from being primarily group-based to individual tasks, with the group activities organized as PBL (Problem-Based Learning) exercises. Students reported that they were able to experience various communication processes through the group problem-solving process that integrated both theory and practice. To meet the demands of contemporary society, writing courses should be designed to help students understand various social phenomena through science and technology. Additionally, they should develop the ability to collaboratively solve diverse problems. In this context, a science and engineering writing instructional models using PBL as a teaching method are effective because it addresses the needs of learners and enhances their skills.
