국문 초록

본 연구는 문학사회학적 맥락에서 작가의 생존과 실존에 대한 문제를 다룬다. 구체적으로는 한국전쟁이라는 역사적 상황을 전후로 한 시기의 부산이라는 문학장을 주목한다. 특히 당시의 상황 속에서 부산에 거주하고 있었던 김정한(선주민 작가)과 부산으로 피란을 내려왔던 김동리(피란민 작가)의 작가 상황과 그 작품들을 중심으로 논의를 전개한다. 한국전쟁은 여러 행위자들이 이해 관계가 얽힌 다차원적이고 복합적인 사건이다. 요컨대 그것은 중심과 주변, 중앙과 지방의 위계적 관점으로 간단하게 치환될 수 없는 사건이다. 특히 전면적인 전쟁은 장소에 대한 기존의 감각을 갱신하면서, 지방에 대한 새로운 인식을 가능하게 하는 계기가 된다. 본 연구는 한국전쟁을 통해 피난수도의 지위를 갖게 된 부산이라는 장소를, 작가의 생존과 실존 문제가 첨예하게 부각되는 ‘문학장’으로 독해한다. 전쟁이라는 비상시의 사건은 서울에서 부산으로 정치적 중심이 이전하게 되는 계기가 되었다. 따라서 한국전쟁기의 부산은 기존의 중심/주변의 위계가 교란, 재편되는 사건성의 장소로 떠오른다. 비상시의 예외적 상황 속에서도 생존을 위한 일상은 다시 평상시로 흘러갔다. 본 연구는 이런 역설적 상황 속에서 부산이라는 문학장에서, 그 비상시의 시간을 살아낸 두 작가의 생존과 실존의 감각과 논리에 접근한다. 김정한에게서는 이념과 관련된 문제의 아이러니를 읽어내고, 김동리에게서는 이념을 초월한 형이상학의 문제를 읽어낸다. 김정한은 좌익 이념과 관련된 이력 때문에 위장의 전향이 필요했고, 그 윤리와 양심의 문제를 해결하기 위해 절필이라는 일종의 자기 처벌이 상징적인 행동으로서 요구되었다. 김동리는 문단권력의 상실이라는 세속적인 현실의 문제를 상징적인 방법으로 해결하기 위해서 부산이라는 구체적 장소를 형이상학적인 공간으로 추상화해야 했다. 생존이라는 현실적인 문제는 이렇게 서로 다른 실존의 두 양상을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

This study deals with the question of the survival and existence of writers in the context of sociology of literature. Specifically, it focuses on the literary field of Busan during the period before and after the historical situation of the Korean War. In particular, it develops the discussion focusing on the situations of writers and their works, such as Kim Jeong-han, who lived in Busan at the time, and Kim Dong-ri, who fled to Busan. The Korean War was a multidimensional and complex event in which many actors had intertwined interests. In short, it is an event that cannot be simply replaced by the hierarchical perspective of center and periphery, central and local. This study interprets Busan, which became a refugee capital through the Korean War, as a ‘literary field’ in which the question of the survival and existence of writers is sharply highlighted. The emergency event of the war became the impetus for the political center to move from Seoul to Busan. Therefore, Busan during the Korean War emerged as a place of eventfulness in which the existing hierarchy of center/periphery was disrupted and reorganized. This study deals with two writers who were active in Busan in this paradoxical situation. Kim Jeong-han needed to change his mind because of his history related to leftist ideology, and he needed to stop writing as a symbolic act of self-punishment to resolve his ethical and conscientious issues. Kim Dong-ri had to abstract the specific place of Busan into a metaphysical space in order to resolve the secular reality of the loss of literary power in a symbolic way. The realistic problem of survival thus showed two different aspects of existence.
