TOPIK 준비반 교육과정 설계를 위한 기초연구: KAIST 학습자 및 교수자의 요구 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 KAIST 외국인 학습자를 위한 TOPIK 준비반 교육과정 설계를 목적으로 학습자와 교수자의 요구를 분석하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 KAIST 외국인 재학생 172명과 한국어 교수자 8명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 기술통계와 상관분석을 통한 정량적 분석 방법과 내용 분석을 통한 정성적 분석 방법으로 분석되었다. 분석 결과 대부분의 학습자와 교수자는 TOPIK 준비반, 특히 3급 준비반의 개설이 필요하다고 응답하였다. 교육과정 구성과 관련해서는 통합적인 접근 방식을 선호하는 경향이 있었으나 쓰기 능력 강화를 위해 별도의 쓰기 집중 과정이 필요하다는 의견도 확인되었다. 수업은 주 2-3회, 회당 2-3시간씩 총 100시간 규모로 4개월간 진행하고 수업 시간은 오후 7시 이후로 편성하는 것이 적절하다는 의견이 많았다. 또한 대면 수업과 비대면 수업이 병행되는 유연한 운영 방식을 선호하였으며 전문화된 TOPIK 교재 사용을 희망하였다. 아울러 학습자들은 TOPIK 수업 경험이 있는 교수자를 가장 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 학습자와 교수자의 요구를 기반으로 하여 TOPIK 준비반 교육과정 설계에 필요한 기준을 구체적으로 제시했다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to provide a roadmap for a TOPIK preparation course curriculum for international students at KAIST by analyzing the needs of both learners and instructors. A survey was conducted of 172 international students enrolled at KAIST and 8 Korean language instructors. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative methods, including descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, as well as qualitative content analysis. The results indicated that most learners and instructors agreed that a TOPIK preparation course, particularly a Level 3 preparation course, was necessary. Respondents preferred an integrated approach but emphasized the need for a separate intensive writing course. Most participants responded that they would prefer a four-month course with 2-3 classes per week, each lasting 2-3 hours, for a total of 100 instructional hours. Both students and teachers favored flexible operation with both in-person and online classes. The majority of respondents expressed a preference for specialized TOPIK textbooks. Learners showed the strongest preference for instructors with previous experience teaching TOPIK courses. This study is meaningful in that it presents concrete criteria necessary for designing a TOPIK preparation course curriculum based on the actual needs of both international learners and instructors.
