국문 초록

본 연구는 창의적 체험활동 자율·자치활동 영역의 이상과 교사들이 실행한 바를 각각 조명하여 이들 간의 괴리를 확인함으로써 향후 질 높은 자율·자치활동의 설계·운영 방향을 정립하기 위한 연구이다. 먼저 문헌연구를 통해 창의적 체험활동의 동향과 자율·자치활동의 성격 및 교육과정적 의미를 논하였다. 이후 현장 교원 8인을 대상으로 자율·자치활동에 대한 인식과 실행에 관해 심층 면담을 수행하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석 결과, 자율·자치활동에 대한 그릇된 인식, 열린교육의 구호 대 닫힌교육의 실상, 주도성 발휘를 방해하는 속박, 역량 함양에 대한 회의 등으로 범주화하여 자율·자치활동의 이상과 실행 간의 괴리에 대해 확인할 수 있었다. 이후 교육과정 전문가 3인과의 FGD에서 합의된 내용을 참고하여 이를 타파하기 위한 방안을 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 열린교육적 접근이 이뤄질 수 있는 토대를 구축한다. 둘째, 자율적인 설계·운영을 가로막는 요인을 해소한다. 셋째, 깊이를 더하는 자율·자치활동이 될 수 있는 여건을 조성한다. 넷째, 자율·자치활동의 설계·운영에 관한 교사들의 목소리에 귀 기울여 필요한 지원을 아끼지 않는다.

영문 초록

This study aims to establish future directions for the effective design and implementation of the autonomous and self-governing activities area within the creative experiential activities by examining the ideals of the curriculum and the realities within its classroom execution. First, a literature review was conducted to examine the trends in creative experiential activities and to explore the nature and curricular significance of autonomous and self-governing activities. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were carried out with eight in-service teachers to explore their perceptions and practices regarding these activities. The analysis of the collected data revealed a gap between the ideal and actual implementation, categorized into four themes: misconceptions about autonomous and self-governing activities, the disjunction between the rhetoric of open education and the reality of closed education, structural constraints that hinder teacher initiative, and skepticism about the cultivation of competencies. Drawing on a follow-up focus group discussion (FGD) with three curriculum experts, the study proposes four recommendations to bridge this gap: (1) establish a foundation for genuinely open educational approaches; (2) eliminate barriers that obstruct autonomous planning and implementation; (3) create conditions that allow for deeper, more meaningful autonomous and self-governing activities; and (4) actively support teachers by valuing and responding to their voices in the design and operation of such programs.
