국문 초록

分韻賦詩[운을 나누어 시를 짓는 것]는 하나의 문학적 행위로서 고려, 조선시대 모두에서 성행하였다. 고려시기 문인들이 분운부시한 것은 현재 20여 題정도만이 남아 있으나, 그 특징은 뚜렷하다. 즉, 개인적인 행위과 집단적인 행위가 병존하며, 고립된 운자와 시구 전체를 운자로 삼는 형식이 공존했다. 승려들의 활약을 통해 고려 시기 불교의 융성함을 알 수 있으며, 蘇軾의 시구를 자주 선택한 점은 당시 學蘇 풍조의 유행을 반영한다. 조선시대의 분운부시 또한 독자적인 특징을 보인다. 첫째, 집단적 행위에서 개인적 행위로의 전환이 일어났고, 둘째, 집단 분운의 경우가 더욱 다양해졌다. 친구 간의 교류와 학습뿐만 아니라, 가문 내의 전승이나 사제 간의 학문적 확인 등으로 확산되었다. 분운부시의 운자는 크게 두 종류로 나뉜다. 하나는 연관이 없는 고립된 글자이고, 다른 하나는 ‘詩文 명구[佳句]’라 불리는 것이다. 시문 명구는 다시 중국의 것과 조선의 것으로 나눌 수 있다. 조선 문인들은 중국의 좋은 시구를 선택할 때, ｢詩經｣에서부터 청나라 사람인 袁枚의 것까지 폭넓게 선택했으며, 가장 많이 선택된 시인은 杜甫, 蘇軾, 朱熹, 王維, 陶淵明 5인이었다. 조선 문인은 해당 5인의 작품을 각기 다른 관점과 목적에서 분운에 사용하였다. 자국 문인의 시구를 운자로 삼을 때에는 전대 문인이나 동시대 문인의 작품을 사용하였다. 전자의 경우는 자신의 현재 상황이나 심정과 부합할 때가 많았으며, 후자의 경우는 주로 가족이나 친구 등의 시구를 인용한 것이 많았다. 시문의 가구 외의 것을 운자를 사용한 분운부시는 대개 집단 분운에서 나타났다. 이때는 語句, 인명, 성씨, 詩題, 詞牌, 지명, 정자, 누각의 이름, 눈앞의 경치나 현재의 심정 등 감회에 따라 운자를 삼는 경우에는 다양한 형태가 존재했다.

영문 초록

The composition of rhyme-assigned poetry was a prevalent literary practice during both the Goryeo and Joseon periods in Korea. Although only about twenty examples from Goryeo literati have survived, they exhibit distinct characteristics: the coexistence of individual and collective composition, as well as the parallel use of isolated rhyme characters and entire poetic lines as rhyming elements. The active participation of Buddhist monks in this practice reflects the flourishing of Buddhism in the Goryeo era, while the frequent selection of Su Shi’s verses illustrates the widespread admiration for his poetic style. In the Joseon period, rhyme-assigned poetry developed unique features. First, there was a shift from collective to individual composition. Second, the occasions for collective rhyme-assigned poetry became more diverse, encompassing scholarly exchanges among friends, family traditions, and teacher-student interactions. The rhyming elements fell into two categories: discrete characters and “exemplary poetic lines”, the latter being further divided into Chinese and domestic sources. Among Chinese sources, selections ranged from the Book of Songs to Qing poet Yuan Mei, with Du Fu, Su Shi, Zhu Xi, Wang Wei, and Tao Yuanming being the most frequently chosen poets—each serving distinct literary purposes. Joseon literati also employed domestic poetic lines, which were either historical or contemporary. Historical works were selected based on their thematic or emotional resonance with the poet’s situation, whereas contemporary lines were predominantly drawn from familial or social circles. Non-poetic rhyme sources, typically used in collective compositions, exhibited remarkable variety: some derived from phrases, personal names, poetic titles, musical forms, geographical locations, architectural structures, or even immediate scenery and emotions. These diverse approaches highlight the creative flexibility of rhyme-assigned poetry in Joseon literary culture.
