국문 초록

이 연구는 청년의 지역 간 주거 이동을 이주 의향의 젠더 차이를 중심으로 접근한다. 청년 세대의 주거지 이동은 지역 인구문제의 핵심 주제인 동시에, 청년들의 생애과정과도 밀접하게 연계되어 있다. 전통적으로 청년 인구의 지역 간 이동은 노동시장을 중심으로 다뤄져 왔으며, 이러한 논의에서 청년 집단 내 젠더 차이는 여러 변인 중의 하나로 검토되는 경우가 많았다. 이 연구는 오늘날 청년들은 주거지 이동을 일종의 생애 전략으로서 접근하기 때문에, 경제 요인이나 지역 환경 요인 외에도 자신의 삶에 대한 주관적인 인식, 미래 전망과 실현 가능성 등의 요인에 따라 이주 의향을 형성한다는 관점에서 이들의 주거 이동을 분석하였다. 특히 청년의 생애과정 이행에는 성별에 따른 제약과 차이가 존재하기 때문에, 이러한 젠더 차이가 이주 의향에 영향을 미치는 변인과 그 효과에도 드러날 것으로 보았다. 2022년 청년 삶 실태조사 데이터를 사용하여 분석한 결과, 청년들의 이주 의향은 삶의 만족도, 사회적 지원 연결망, 미래 실현 가능성에 대한 제약 인식 등 자신의 생애에 대한 인식에 따라 다르게 형성되고 있었다. 그 중에서도 부모와의 동거, 사회적 지원 연결망, 번아웃 경험은 청년의 성별에 따라 상반된 효과를 보였는데, 현재 삶의 제약을 탈피하기 위한 생애 전략으로서의 의미화가 여성 청년에서 특히 강하게 나타나고 있는 것으로 해석할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study approaches the residential mobility of youth between regions with a focus on gender differences in migration intention. Residential migration of the youth is both a key issue in regional population dynamics and closely tied to their life course. Traditionally, youth migration has been analyzed in the context of the labor market, with gender differences often treated as one of several variables. This study suggests that today, young people approach residential mobility as a life strategy. Therefore, their migration intentions are shaped not only by economic and regional factors but also by subjective perceptions of their lives, future prospects, and the feasibility of those prospects. The study also posits that gender differences in the life course transition of the youth result in varying constraints and differences, which influence the factors and effects of migration intentions. Analyzing data from the “2022 Youth Life Survey”, the study found that migration intentions were shaped differently depending on youth’s perceptions of their life satisfaction, social support networks, and perceived constraints on future possibilities. Among these, cohabitation with parents, social support networks, and burnout experiences exhibited contrasting effects based on gender. This suggests that, for young women, the meaning of migration as a strategy to overcome current life constraints is particularly pronounced.
