국문 초록

본 연구는 기혼여성의 가족돌봄 수행 여부 및 자녀돌봄, 부모돌봄, 이중돌봄으로 구분되는 가족돌봄 유형에 따른 여가지출 수준 및 여가만족도의 차이를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 여성가족패널조사 9차년도(2023) 자료를 활용하였으며, 30대에서 50대까지의 기혼여성 3,568명을 분석 대상으로 설정하였다. 이를 위해 CEM 매칭기법으로 주요 사회경제적 특성을 통제한 후, 돌봄 여부 및 유형 간 여가지출 및 만족도 수준의 차이를 t-test를 통해 비교하였다. 분석 결과의 강건성을 확보하기 위해 동일한 공변량을 통제한 회귀분석을 병행하였다. 분석 결과, 가족돌봄을 수행하는 기혼여성은 돌봄을 수행하지 않는 여성에 비해 개인 및 가구 여가지출 수준이 유의하게 낮았으며, 여가만족도 또한 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 가족돌봄 수행이 여가 자원과 정서적 만족 양 측면 모두에 부정적인 영향을 미침을 시사한다. 가족돌봄 유형 간 비교 결과, 여가지출에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으나, 여가만족도는 이중돌봄집단이 부모돌봄집단에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수준을 보였다. 평균값을 기준으로 이중돌봄집단은 다른 돌봄유형에 비해 여가지출과 만족도가 전반적으로 낮게 나타났다. 이는 돌봄의 복합성이 여가활동 참여와 만족에 구조적 제약으로 작용할 수 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구는 기혼여성이 가족돌봄을 수행하는 경우, 개인 및 가구 차원에서 여가지출이 유의하게 감소한다는 점을 실증적으로 확인하였다. 이는 가족 내 돌봄 책임이 여성의 여가 자원에 구조적 제약을 가한다는 점을 보여주는 결과로, 여가생활의 양적·질적 수준에까지 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 향후 여가 및 돌봄 정책은 개인이 아닌 가족 단위의 자원 배분 구조를 고려하여 설계될 필요가 있음을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine differences in leisure expenditure and leisure satisfaction among married women based on their engagement in family caregiving, which is classified into child care, elderly care, and dual caregiving. Using data from the 9th wave (2023) of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLoWF), a sample of 3,568 married women in their 30s to 50s was analyzed. To control for key socioeconomic characteristics, Coarsened Exact Matching (CEM) was applied, followed by t-tests to compare differences in leisure expenditure and satisfaction across caregiving groups. Regression analysis controlling for the same covariates was also conducted to ensure robustness. The findings indicate that women engaged in family caregiving reported significantly lower levels of both personal and household leisure expenditure, as well as lower leisure satisfaction, compared to non-caregivers. This suggests that caregiving negatively affects both material and emotional aspects of leisure. While leisure expenditure did not significantly differ across caregiving types, leisure satisfaction was significantly lower in the dual-caregiving group than in the elderly-caregiving group. On average, the dual-caregiving group showed the lowest levels of both leisure expenditure and satisfaction, highlighting the structural constraints of complex caregiving responsibilities. This study empirically confirms that engaging in family caregiving leads to a significant reduction in leisure expenditure at both the individual and household levels. These findings suggest that caregiving responsibilities impose structural constraints on women’s leisure resources and can affect both the quantity and quality of their leisure life. Accordingly, future leisure and caregiving policies should consider the family-level structure of resource allocation rather than focusing solely on individuals.
