COVID-19 전후 영유아 언어발달지연에 대한 교사들의 경험 및 언어재활서비스에 대한 인식

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 COVID-19 전후 영유아 언어발달지연의 실태와 그 원인에 대해 영유아 교사들의 경험을 토대로 파악하고, 언어재활서비스의 필요성과 원격 언어재활서비스에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 방법: 서울, 경기 지역 내 COVID-19 유행 당시 근무한 경험이 있는 영유아 교사 125명이 본 연구에 참여하였다. COVID-19 전후 영유아 언어발달지연에 대한 영유아 교사들의 경험 및 언어재활서비스에 대한 인식을 조사하기 위한 문항으로 설문 문항을 구성하여 조사를 실시하였다. 결과: COVID-19 유행 시 실시되었던 교실 내 거리두기와 마스크 착용이 교사와 영유아 또는 영유아 간의 상호작용 시 부정적으로 작용했고, 지도했던 영유아들중 언어 발달에 어려움을 보였던 아동의 수가 COVID-19 이전과 비교 시 ‘학급 내 4명 이상’이라고 응답한 자가 약 2배 정도 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 COVID-19 이후 언어발달지연을 해결하기 위해 가장 필요하다고 생각하는 지원에 대해서는 응답자의 45.6%가 ‘언어치료 및 기타 치료 서비스 확대’가 필요하다고 응답하였으며, COVID-19 이후 영유아들의 언어발달지연의 해결을 위해 대면 또는 비대면 언어재활서비스를 받는 것에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구는 COVID-19 팬데믹 시 현장에서 영유아들을 가장 가까이에서 지켜본 영유아 교사들의 경험 및 인식을 알아볼 수 있었다는 점에서 큰 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the differences in language development in infants and toddlers before and after COVID-19 based on the experiences of teachers, and to find out the necessity of language rehabilitation services and the awareness of the need for remote language rehabilitation services. Methods: A total of 125 early childhood educators who worked in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions during the COVID-19 pandemic participated in this study. A survey was conducted to assess the educators’ experiences with language delays in young children before and after COVID-19, as well as their perceptions of speech and language rehabilitation services. Results: It was found that the in-class distancing and mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected the interaction between teachers and infants or between infants. It was found that the number of teachers who reported that the number of children with language delays in their class was “four or more” increased approximately twofold. In addition, 45.6% of respondents indicated that the most needed support to address language development delays after COVID-19 was the “expansion of speech and language therapy and other treatment services,” and the educators had a positive perception of receiving remote speech and language rehabilitation services. Conclusion: This study is significant in that it was able to identify the valuable insights into the experiences and perceptions of early childhood educators, who have been closely watching infants and toddlers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
