국문 초록

본 논문은 준접사 ‘前’의 의미, 문법 표현, 그리고 화용적 기능의 세 가지 측면에서그 특성을 고찰하였다. 준접사 ‘前’의 의미는 어휘 의미, 문법 의미, 문체 의미의 세가지로 구분되며, 어휘 의미는 시간을 나타내는 ‘前’에서 확장된 것으로 주로 지시대상의 속성을 수식하거나 한정하는 데 사용된다. 또한, 준접사로서의 ‘前’은 ‘이전에존재했으나 현재는 그렇지 않다’는 시제적 속성을 나타내며, 어휘 의미의 제약을 받아 주로 관형어로 기능하며 어근 형태소의 앞에 위치한다. 코퍼스 분석을 통해 확인한 결과, 준접사 ‘前’은 뚜렷한 문어적 색채를 가지며 주로 공식적인 상황에서 사용되는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 준접사 ‘前’은 형태소와 결합하여 단어를 형성할 때 반드시 어근 형태소의 앞에 위치하며, 뒤에 결합하는 성분은 주로 명사로 이루어진다. 또한, 준접사 ‘前’ 으로 구성된 단어는 대체로 3음절로 구성되며, 170개의 단어가 확인될 만큼 높은 생산성을 보인다. 더불어, 준접사 ‘前’은 조어 과정에서 최소한의 언어적 형식을 통해 효율적이고 명확한 의사소통을 가능하게 하는 화용적 기능을 수행하며, 담화의 실제의미를 추론하고 맥락 내 지시 대상 및 관련 상황에 대한 전후 비교를 통해 의미를 완성하는 데 기여한다. 이러한 점에서 준접사 ‘前’은 언어적 생산성과 화용적 유용성을 동시에 갖춘 중요한 언어 요소로 평가될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the characteristics of the quasi-affix ‘前’ from three aspects: semantic features, morphological behavior, and pragmatic function. The semantic scope of the quasi-affix ‘前’ encompasses lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, and stylistic meaning. Its lexical meaning originates from the temporal sense of ‘前’, primarily serving to modify and specify referents. As a quasi-affix, it conveys a temporal attribute of 'formerly being but no longer existing'. Governed by its lexical meaning, the quasi-affix ‘前’ frequently functions as an attributive modifier, preceding the root morpheme. A corpus analysis reveals that the quasi-affix ‘前’ predominantly exhibits a formal, written linguistic style, commonly utilized in official contexts. In word formation, the quasi-affix ‘前’ demonstrates four features: First, it is invariably prefixed to the root morpheme. Second, the subsequent component is typically a noun. Third, the resulting words are predominantly trisyllabic. Fourth, with 170 documented words formed using‘前’, it exhibits a relatively high degree of productivity. Moreover, the quasi-affix ‘前’ fulfills two pragmatic functions in actual usage. First, communicators employing ‘前’ in word formation adhere to the cooperative principle, conveying communicative intentions with minimal linguistic resources. Second, guided by the cooperative principle, communicators derive the implied meanings of discourse from the quasi-affix ‘前’, facilitating contextual comparisons of the referent's relevant situations.
