국문 초록

목적: 이 연구는 국외 자국어 교육과정의 미디어 문해력 교육 내용과 양상을 분석하여 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 방법: 미디어 문해력의 핵심 개념을 이론적 배경으로 캐나다 온타리오주와 호주의 자국어 교육과정을 탐색하였다. 결과: 두 교육과정은 미디어를 의미 구성의 대상인 텍스트로 설정하고, 자국어 교육과정에 통합하여 미디어 문해력을 교육하고 있다. 첫째, 미디어 분석에서 비판적 사고를 함양하기 위한 학습 내용을 범교과적 역량과 연계하여 제시하였다. 둘째, 텍스트의 복합양식 읽기 교육 내용을 중심으로 미디어 언어를 탐구할 수 있도록 하였다. 셋째, 미디어 텍스트의 사회·역사·문화적 맥락을 고려하여 미디어 재현을 탐구할 수 있도록 하였다. 넷째, 디지털 미디어 도구 및 기술을 활용하여 미디어를 제작하면서 미디어의 소통 역학을 성찰하는 내용을 제시하였다. 결론: 자국어 교육에 미디어 문해력 교육을 안착하기 위해 다양한 미디어 텍스트에 대한 유연한 수용, 복합양식 읽기에 대한 체계적인 내용 마련, 디지털 미디어 기술 및 환경에 대한 폭넓은 접근이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the content and aspects of media literacy education in foreign native language curricula and draw implications from it. Methods: In order to accomplish this research purpose, the core concepts of media literacy education were used as a theoretical background to explore the native language curricula of Ontario, Canada, and Australia. Results: The findings of data analysis showed that both curricula set media as texts that construct meaning and integrate media literacy into the native language curriculum. First, they presented learning content aimed at fostering critical thinking in media analysis, linked with cross-curricular competencies. Second, they focused on the education of multimodal text reading to explore media language. Third, they enabled the exploration of media representation by considering the social, historical, and cultural contexts of media texts. Fourth, they suggested content that reflects on the dynamics of media communication by utilizing digital media tools and technologies to create media. Conclusion: To successfully incorporate media literacy education into Korean language education, flexible acceptance of various media texts, systematic preparation for multimodal reading, and broad access to digital media technologies and environments are required.
