국문 초록

목적: 본고는 사고도구어를 기반으로 독서지수를 설정했을 때 도서의 이독성을 측정할 수 있는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 방법: 214권의 도서를 대상으로 사고도구어의 다양성과 빈도가 도서의 이독성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 사고도구어 목록을 활용하여 도서의 계량적 특성을 측정하고 전문가 집단의 이독성 평정 결과와 비교하였다. 결과: 연구 결과, 사고도구어의 다양성과 빈도가 이독성에 영향을 미치며, 특히 다양성이 더 큰 예측력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이 두 지표를 7:3 비율로 결합했을 때 전문가 평정과의 상관도가 가장 높았다. 연구에서 사용된 사고도구어 목록이 명사, 동사, 형용사로 구성되어 있어 내용어 중심이라는 특징이 텍스트의 이독성 측정에 유용하였으며 또한 많은 도서에서 사고도구어 사용과 문장 복잡도가 상관관계가 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 결론: 이 연구는 사고도구어 기반 독서지수 설정의 유의미함을 입증하고 새로운 연구 방향을 제안하는 선구적 연구로 평가할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This paper aimed to explore whether a reading index based on academic vocabulary can measure the readability of books. Methods: First, we analyzed the effect of the variety and frequency of academic vocabulary on the readability of 214 books. To do so, we used a list of academic vocabulary to measure the quantitative characteristics of books and compared them to the readability ratings of a group of experts. The results of the study showed that the variety and frequency of thinking tools affect readability, with variety having a stronger predictive power. Combining these two metrics in a 7:3 ratio had the highest correlation with expert ratings. Results: The list of academic vocabulary used in the study was content-oriented, consisting of nouns, verbs, and adjectives, made it useful for measuring the readability of texts, and we also found that the use of academic vocabulary correlated with sentence complexity in many books. Conclusion: This is a pioneering study that demonstrates the significance of establishing academic vocabulary-based reading index and suggests new research directions.
