식민지시기 칼라영화 상영에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 키네마칼라를 중심으로 식민지 조선에서 칼라영화의 수용에 관한내용을 담고 있다. 1910년대 상영된 활동사진 프로그램에는 채색이나 착색, 염색으로 구분된 영화가 있었다. 채색이나 염색을 통해 색을 구현했던 칼라영화들이 조선에서도 상영되었던 것이다. 1914년 경성의 황금관에서는 일본 텐카츠(天活)회사에서 수입한 것을 하야가와연예부에서 배급한 키네마칼라가 상영되었다. 텐카츠는 영국에서 개발된 키네마칼라 기술을 토대로 칼라영화를 만들고 배급하던 회사였다. 키네마칼라를 발판 삼아 하야가와연예부는 인천의 표관을 시작으로 평양, 부산 등조선 각지에서 영향력을 확대했다. 하지만 제1차 세계대전의 발발을 계기로 필름을 많이 소비하는 키네마칼라의 제작과 상영이 위축되었다. 이러한 상황에서 텐카츠는 필름을 적게 사용하는 연쇄극의 제작에 주력했으며 1915년을 기점으로본격적으로 미국의 연속영화가 수입, 상영되며 키네마칼라는 영화관에서 사라지게 된다. 이 논문은 키네마칼라를 중심으로 식민지시기 조선에서는 초창기 주요한 칼라영화기술들이 소개되었으며 이러한 기술의 등장은 영화산업에 영향을 주었음을밝히고 있다.

영문 초록

In this study, I have incorporated the contents related to the acceptance of color film in colonial Korea. In the 1910s some of motion picture screening programs were separated by colored or tinted, dyed film. Color movies that embodied the color by using the coloring and dyeing have also been screened in Korea. In the Hwanggeumgwan of Gyeongseong from 1914, Kinemacolor movie has been screened. It was imported from Tenkatsu Japan and has been distributed from Hayakawa entertainment. Tenkatsu was a company that was distributing and making a color motion picture based on kinematic color technology developed in the UK. Hayakawa entertainment was expanding its influence various places in Korea, such as Pyoguan of Incheon, Pyongyang, Busan by using Kinemacolor as a toehold. However, production and consumption of Kinemacolor were atrophied in response to the outbreak of the First World War. In these circumstances Tenkatsu focused on the production of kino drama to use less film. 1915 serial films of United States were imported and screened, Kinemacolor disappeared in a movie theater. In this paper, in the center of the kinema color, the initial major of color film technology has been introduced. The emergence of these technologies affected the film industry in Korea the colonial era.
