해외 영화제에서의 문화예술교육 활용 사례연구

국문 초록

영화제는 세계 각국의 다양한 영화가 출품되어 관객들에게 소개되고, 세계적인 배우와 감독, 비평가들이 함께 의견을 공유할 수 있는 대표적인 국제이벤트이다. 영화제를 통해 세계적으로 명성을 얻은 국제도시들이 있고, 우리나라에서도지역 관광 활성화와 지역 주민의 문화적 수요 충족을 위해 지자체에서 영화제를개최하고 있다. 그러나 우후죽순처럼 생겨난 영화제들 중 상당수가 그 존재 가치를 입증하기도 전에 혈세를 낭비한다는 비판에 직면하면서 단명한 것도 사실이다. 이에 본 연구는 영화제의 역할 재고를 위해, 어린이, 청소년의 영화 교육을중요한 프로그램으로 도입하고 있는 해외 영화제들을 조사하였다. 구체적으로, 본 논문은 해외 영화제의 관객개발 및 미래 영화인을 양성하기 위해 활용되는 다양한 문화예술교육 사례(캐나다 토론토국제영화제, 프랑스 나의 첫 번째 영화제, 일본 도쿄국제영화제, 나라국제영화제)의 특징을 살펴보았다. 해당 사례들을 통해 국내 영화제에서 활용할 수 있는 시사점을 제공하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영화제는 지역의 사회와 문화를 성장시키는 중요한 주체로 그 역할을 재정립할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 영화제에서의 영화교육의 확대는 미래의 관객을 개발하고 창작 인력을 육성함으로써 영화 산업을 진흥시킬 수 있는 중요한 요인이 될 것이다. 셋째, 영화제의 어린이 및 청소년 문화예술교육은 ‘영상 제작 프로그램’에 그치지않고, 스토리텔링, 비평, 프로그래밍, 영화 홍보 및 영화제 운영에 이르기까지 다양하게 개발될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 해외 영화제의 다양한 문화예술교육 사례들을 살펴보고, 향후 영화제의 문화예술교육 측면에서 활성화 방안을 도출하였기에, 영화 분야의 학술과 현장에 의의를 제공한다.

영문 초록

The film festival is a representative international event where diverse films from the world are exhibited and introduced to local audiences and famous actors/a ctress, d irectors and c ritics sha re t heir i dea s about f ilms. T here a re a f ew cites that had the worldwide reputation as a host city of film festival, In Korea, several local governments hold film festivals to revitalize local tourism and fulfill the cultural needs of local residents. However, film festivals that have sprung up in the various cities often ended up short-living, while faced criticism for wasting taxpayers’ money. Based on this situation, this study scrutinized overseas film festivals that have adopted film education for youth as an important program, in order to reconsidering the role of local film festivals. Specifically, this study examined the film festivals such as ‘Toronto International Film Festival’(Canada), ‘Mon premier Festival’(France), ‘Tokyo International Film Festival’ and ‘Nara International Film Festival’(Japan) as models capitalizing on film festival for developing audiences and future film-makers. The implications of this case study are as follows: First, it is necessary to reestablish the role of the film festival as an important subject for fertilizing local society and culture. Second, the development of film education programs at film festivals is significant to promote the film industry by developing future audiences and fostering creative film-makers. Third, educational programs for various objects should be designed from the perspective of reconsidering the role of film festivals, and especially youth programs for should be actively developed. This study examines various cultural and art education cased of overseas film festivals and tried to provide its implication for local film festivals. It would be meaningful both academic field and film festivals scene.
