국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 중증 뇌병변장애인가족이 경험하는 긴급돌봄의 현황 및 지원욕구를 심층적으로 파악하고, 이에 대한 지원방안을 탐색하는데 주요 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 양적연구와 질적연구를 통합하는 혼합연구방법을 사용하였으며, 양적연구는 서울에 거주하는 중증 뇌병변장애 가족 총 290명을 대상으로 한 온라인 설문조사를 통해 이루어졌고, 질적연구는 중증 뇌병변장애 부모 및 현장전문가를 대상으로 한 초점집단인터뷰를 통해 이루어졌다. 연구결과: 첫째, 중증 뇌병변장애인 가족은 보호자의 입원 등과 같은 긴급한 상황에서 돌봄 공백을 경험하고 있음에도 불구하고 이에 대한 공적 지원이 미흡하여 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중증 뇌병변장애인의 특성을 고려한 전문적인 긴급돌봄시설 및 서비스에 대한 욕구가 강한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 긴급돌봄시설은 중증 뇌병변장애인의 특별한 욕구를 반영하여 전문적인 돌봄서비스와 건강관리 및 의료적 지원이 통합적으로 제공될 필요가 있는 것으로 드러났다. 넷째, 참여자들은 긴급돌봄지원이 돌봄 위기 대처 및 일시적 휴식지원을 통한 가정기반의 삶을 지속하는데 목적이 있으므로, 돌봄시설 운영에 있어 불필요한 시설화가 이루어지지 않을 것을 강조하였다. 결론: 이와 같은 결과에 바탕을 두고, 중증 뇌병변장애인을 위한 긴급돌봄 지원방안과 주요 실천적 과제를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The study aimed to explore emergency respite care needs and support for families of individuals with severe brain lesions. Method: The study employed mixed methods research, including an online survey administered to a total of 290 families that include individuals with severe brain lesions and three focus interviews with seven parents and four experts. Results: First, it was found that the families experienced numerous urgent situations such as carer’s hospitalization and faced substantial difficulties due to lack of support for them. Second, the result showed there was a strong desire for specialized emergency care facilities and services considering the characteristics of people with severe brain lesions. Third, the participants reported that emergency care facilities need to provide integrated professional care services, health care and medical support due to the complex and special needs of people with severe brain lesions. Fourth, the participants emphasized that emergency respite care should be carried out in order to cope with care crises and sustain a home-based family life without long-term stay or institutionalization. Conclusion: Practical implications were discussed to develop emergency respite care services and support systems for families of individuals with severe brain lesions.
