국문 초록

연구 목적: 이 연구는 오케스트라에서 시각장애학생을 지도한 교사이자 연구자인 나의 경험을 고찰하여, 연구자가 어떠한 경험을 하였고 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법: 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구자의 경험을 심층적으로 탐색할 수 있는 자문화기술지 방법을 사용하였다. 연구 결과: 첫째, 나는 오케스트라에서 시각장애학생을 지도하면서 내가 시각장애에 대해 무지하다는 사실과 직면하게 되었으며, 음악 전공자로서의 지식과 경험이 부족함에 대한 불안감과 자괴감을 경험하였다. 둘째, 나는 시각장애학생을 지도하며 마주하는 어려움을 해결하기 위하여 여러 가지 방법을 고민하고 실천하였으며, 적극적인 연주 활동을 통해 실전 지식을 습득하였다. 셋째, 나는 시각장애와 음악교육에 대한 이해를 넓혀가는 과정에서, 학생을 ‘돕는 교사’가 아닌 ‘함께 연주하는 연주자’로의 정체성 변화를 경험하였다. 결론: 이 연구는 오케스트라에서 시각장애학생을 지도한 교사의 경험을 특수교육과 음악교육의 교차 지점에서 심층적으로 탐구했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 시각장애인 연주자의 경험 탐색을 위한 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of the researcher, who served as both a teacher and a researcher guiding students with visual impairments in an orchestra. The objective is to explore what the researcher experienced and how those experiences were given meaning. Method: To achieve this purpose, the study employed autoethnography as a methodology to deeply explore and reflect on the researcher’s lived experiences. Results: First, the researcher confronted her own lack of knowledge about visual impairments and experienced anxiety and self-doubt due to insufficient expertise and musical knowledge. Second, researchers explored and applied various strategies for teaching students with visual impairments and acquired practical knowledge through active participation in music performance. Third, through a growing understanding of visual impairments and music education, the researcher experienced a transformation in professional identity—from a “helper” to a “co-performing musician.” Conclusion: This study is significant in that it deeply explores the experiences of a teacher instructing students with visual impairments within an orchestra setting. Specifically, it addresses the intersection between special education and music education. Based on these findings, the study suggests future research on the performance experiences of musicians with visual impairments from their own perspectives.
