담화표지 교육을 통한 학문 목적 텍스트 구성 교육

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학에 입학한 외국인 대학생의 학문 목적 쓰기 텍스트 작성을 위한 교육 방법을 논의함에 중점을 두었다. 외국인 학습자의 학문 목적 쓰기 교육은 문어 텍스트를 통한 소통 도구 작성에 있다. 그러므로 본고에서는 쓰기 교육 내용에 텍스트 구조에 대한 지식이 포함되어야 하며, 교육 활동으로서 텍스트 구성 능력을 습득하는 과정이 포함되어야 함을 강조하였다. 나아가 쓰기 지식은 학문 목적 텍스트에 나타나는 내용뿐만 아니라, 학문 목적 텍스트의 구조에 대한 지식이며, 쓰기 지식을 교육의 내용으로 포함하여 단락 이상 담화 쓰기가 쓰기 교육의 범주가 되어야 함을 강조하였다. 한편 본고에서 논의하는 학문 목적 텍스트 구성 능력은 문장 이상 단락 간 구조 구성에 필요한 의미 구조이자 논리 구조를 포함한다. 따라서 교육 내용으로서 학문 목적 텍스트 구성 능력을 기르기 위해 담화 표지 사용 과정이 효과적임을 주장하였다. 논의를 위해 제시하는 텍스트 구조는 학문 목적 텍스트의 대표적 유형인 설명 텍스트와 논증 텍스트를 기준으로 하였다. 두 텍스트의 구조 유형이 비교적 단순하고 전형적인 형태로 나타나기 때문에 텍스트의 논리 구조 유형별로 자주 사용되는 담화 표지를 제시하고, 이를 사용하여 텍스트 구조 구성 지식을 쓰기 지식으로 교육 방법을 모색하였다. 이러한 텍스트 구조 담화표지 교육을 통해 쓰기 학습자는 결과적으로 학문 목적 텍스트를 보다 효과적으로 작성하고, 텍스트 유형과 목적에 적합한 쓰기 수행을 할 수 있음을 보이고자 했다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to discuss on the teaching methods for the foreign university students who entered the universities regarding their writing of academic purposes. The purpose of the education on the writing of academic purposes in the foreign students is to prepare the communication tool by writing text. Therefore, we emphasized in this article that the knowledge on the text organization as well as the process to learn about the text organization skill should be included in writing courses as the learning practices. Moreover, we added that writing knowledge was not only for contents in the academic purpose text, but also for organization of academic purpose text, hence, writing discourse other than writing paragraph should be a category of education courses including writing knowledge. On the other hand, text organization skills of academic purpose discussed in this article include the meaning as well as logical structure required for the organization of paragraphs other than sentences. Therefore, the process to use discourse marker was demonstrated to be effective to develop the organizing skill of academic purpose text as the contents of education. The text structures provided for discussion were based on explanatory text and logical text which were the representatives of the academic purpose text. Since the types of both text structures were shown to be relatively simple and typical, we suggested discourse marker, which are frequently used in the types of logical text structure, to find out the text organization knowledge using this as the education method of writing knowledge. By this discourse marker education of text structure, we aimed to show the writing students to prepare the academic purpose text effectively and to perform the writing practices which were appropriate to the type and purpose of the text.
