영문 초록

In this article, we presuppose that the atomic bombs reflect the history of invasion, colonization, discrimination, and plunder, and analyze the poems of atomic bombs to establish the claim that the minorities suffered from the mining of uranium, nuclear weapons testing, the manufacturing process of nuclear arms, and nuclear electricity generation. Sadako Kurihara produced poems, where she expresses the death and the discrimination of the Korean victims of the atomic bombs, who were considered minorities under the regime of the Empire of Japan. In connection with this, we analyze why the Koreans were in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and became the victims of the atomic bombs. Simon Ortiz, an American poet, produced poems, expressing the severe life condition imposed on the Native Americans who were engaged in the mining of uranium to be used for nuclear weapons testing. We compare the poems written by Sadako Kurihara with those written by Simon Ortiz, both of which describe the colonialism from the perspective of the victims of nuclear weapons. In particular, we focus on the concept of Apocalypsis, which is related to the representation of nuclear weapons in America’s colonialism and in the Cold War era for the purpose of exploring how Ortiz attempted to subvert the concept of Apocalypsis.
