영문 초록

Despite a lot of research on the focus on form instruction, there are still ongoing debates and empirical investigations concerning these studies. For this study, 142 Korean EFL students participated in four experimental groups and one control group The experimental groups were further divided into four different teaching method groups, i.e., two input groups (with or without textual input enhancement) and two output groups (with the dictogloss task or picture-cued writing task). The major findings are as follows: 1) There was no significant difference between the input and the output groups in a receptive knowledge test; 2) No significant difference was found across the experimental groups in a grammaticality judgment test; 3) The output groups outperformed the input groups in a productive knowledge test. Yet, there was no difference within the two output groups and the two input groups; 4) Those who received the textual input enhancement showed measurable gains in a grammaticality judgment test. Furthermore, the four experimental groups showed significantly better improvements than the control group in the productive knowledge test and the grammaticality judgment test. In conclusion, the findings indicate that the output groups show the improvement of productive knowledge of the target form.
