조선시대 한문 簡札의 서예사적 의의

국문 초록

본 논문은 조선시대 한문 簡札의 의의를 서예사적 시각에서 살펴 본 것이다. 편지는 안부와 소식을 나누는 일상의 실용문이지만 한문 간찰은 한문 문장을 자유롭게 짓고 쓸 수 있는 文筆의 소양이 있어야 가능한 지식인들의 고급문화였다. 전통시대의 서예는 지식인들이 그 흐름을 주도했던 예술로서 簡札書藝는 서예사의 자료가 되며, 작품으로서의 가치를 가지는 것도 많다. 간찰은 사적 교신이라는 친근한 형식으로 이루어진 일상의 필기여서 의도하지 않은 書寫과정에서 자연스럽게 書者의 인성과 才識이 드러나고, 일상적으로 많이 쓴데서 나오는 익숙한 자유로움이 있다. 간찰서예의 특징을 자연스러운 書品, 편지라는 매체형식, 행초서 위주의 서체, 書寫형식 등의 면에서 탐구해 보았다. 아울러 이러한 간찰서예의 특징을 갖추고 작품으로서 가치가 있다고 생각되는 16세기 정치가인 이산해, 17세기 문장가인 남용익, 18세기 학자인 이덕무, 19세기 서예가인 김정희의 간찰을 시론적으로 탐구해 보았다. 간찰은 가문의 위세품으로서 家傳 유물적 가치나, 先人의 手澤이라는 기념적 의미뿐만 아니라 전통시대 서예사의 한 분야로서 연구되어야할 필요성이 크다고 생각 된다.

영문 초록

This study is about the significance of the traditional correspondence in the Choson Dynasty from the calligraphic point of view. Traditional calligraphy is a specific art form which was handed down by intelligent people who were influenced by Chinese culture. Calligraphy in the letters(Khan-chal Seoye) is an important part in calligraphic history when we look at the remains and characteristics of calligraphic works in Korea today. Because of the author's frequent experiences in calligraphy writing, they felt free to express themselves, their personalities and knowledge, and this they naturally reflected (unintentionally) in the descriptive nature of the letters. Therefore a lot of them are esteemed as wonderful works today. Letters written in Chinese calligraphy were not only used in ordinary correspondence which showed the culture in daily life but also they contained the life, education, and thought of authors. In addition, we can observe the person's cultural appreciation and style of that time through the handwriting and format of the letters. Letters called Khan-chal have value as relics which are handed down in the family as an authoritative work. They have been memorialized as a graceful handwork of ancestors. It is considered a necessity to study them(Khan-chal) as calligraphy works.
