과학영재와 일반학생의 비판적 사고와 사고양식과의 관계 비교

국문 초록

  최근 영재교육 분야에서는 영재를 위한 비판적 사고의 중요성이 강조되고 있다 이에 영재의 비판적 사고 특성을 구체적으로 알아보고자 하는 시도가 계속되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 시도 중 하나로 사고양식과의 관련성을 알아내어 영재 교육에의 시사점을 제공하고자 하는 목적으로 진행되었다. 본 연구의 대상은 부산광역시 2개 교육청 소속 중학생 과학 영재반 1학년과 3학년 118명과 동일한 교육청 소속의 중학교에서 선발한 일반학생 중학생 121명을 대상으로 하여, 비판적 사고 검사(Cornell Critical Thinking Test Level X)와 사고양식 검사를 실시하였다. 학년과 영재성에 따라 이원 중다변랑분석과 상관분석을 실시하여 그 차이를 보았다. 그 결과 비판적 사고의 경우에는 영재성 여부에 따라 비판적 사고의 차이가 나타났으며, 영재성에 따른 차이의 주된 영향을 미치는 요인은 귀납추리와 연역추리, 가정추리 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사고양식의 경우에도 영재성에 따른 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 영재성에 따른 차이를 나타나게 하는 주된 요인은 입법적 사고양식, 사법적 사고양식, 위계적 사고양식, 전체적 사고양식, 지엽적 사고양식, 내부적 사고양식, 진보적 사고양식, 보수적 사고양식으로 나타났다 또한 영재성과 학년으로 집단을 나누어 사고양식과 비판적 사고간의 상관을 알아본 결과 집단별 상이한 상관의 양상이 나타났다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between critical thinking and thinking styles of the scientifically gifted and average students in junior high school. Subjects were 118 gifted and 121 average students in Busan. The instruments used in this study were Cornell Critical Thinking Test and Thinking Styles Questionnaire. The study results were as follows: First, scientifically gifted students prefer legislative, liberal, judical internal, and hierarchic thinking styles in comparison to average students. Second, there were significant differences between gifted and average junior high school students in critical thinking. Third, there were significant correlations between the sub measures of thinking styles and critical thinking. The implications were discussed and recommendations for future research were made.
