국문 초록

본 연구는 중년기 성인의 신체화와 부모애착 간의 관계를 탐색하고, 이 과정에서 감정표현불능증과 우울의 순차적 이중매개 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 만 40~65세 성인 400명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하고, 구조방정식 모형을 활용하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 불안애착과 회피애착은 감정표현불능증, 우울, 신체화와 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 불안애착은 신체화에 직접 영향은 없었으나, 감정표현불능증과 우울을 매개로 한 간접효과가 나타났으며, 감정표현불능증이 우울을 높여 신체화로 이어지는 순차적 경로가 확인되었다. 셋째, 회피애착도 신체화에 직접효과는 없었으나, 감정표현불능증과 우울을 통한 간접효과가 유의하였고, 감정 인식·표현의 어려움이 우울과 신체화로 연결되는 연속적 과정을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 초기 부모애착이 중년기 정서 취약성과 신체 증상에 지속적으로 작용함을 시사한다. 또한 중년기 신체화의 이해를 확장하고 상담 개입 방향을 제시하는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined how parental attachment influences somatization in middle-aged adults, focusing on the sequential mediation of alexithymia and depression. A total of 400 adults aged 40–65 completed an online survey, and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were positively correlated with alexithymia, depression, and somatization. Attachment anxiety did not directly affect somatization but indirectly influenced it through alexithymia and depression. A sequential mediation pathway was confirmed: attachment anxiety heightened alexithymia, which increased depression, leading to somatization. Likewise, attachment avoidance showed no direct effect but had a significant indirect effect through alexithymia and depression. Avoidant attachment was found to exacerbate deficits in emotional awareness and expression, thereby intensifying depression and contributing to somatization. These findings suggest that early parental attachment continues to affect emotional vulnerability and physical symptoms in middle adulthood. By identifying the sequential mediating roles of alexithymia and depression, this study broadens the theoretical understanding of somatization and provides a foundation for counseling interventions with middle-aged adults.
