자유전공학부 신입생 상담의 운영 특성과 효과 분석: 인문․사회․상경 계열을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 자유전공학부 신입생 중 인문·사회·상경 계열 지망 학생을 대상으로 대학 초기 상담의 효과와 운영 특성을 분석하고, 상담 체계 개선방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2025학년도 신입생 136명을 대상으로 3월부터 6월까지 총 484건의 상담 데이터를 수집하고, 상담 시기, 주제, 채널별로 분류하여 분석하였다. 특히 상담 채널(지도실, 오픈라운지, 전화, 문자/카카오톡)과 상담 주제(전공탐색, 진로안내, 학사안내 등) 간의 관계를 교차분석한 결과, 두 변수 간에는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이(χ²=193.63, df=21, p<.001)가 나타났다. 연구 결과, 상담은 전공·진로 설계, 학업 및 생활 적응, 정서적 안정에 실질적으로 기여하였다. 시기별로는 학기 초에는 적응과 수강 관련, 중반에는 전공 및 진로 탐색, 말기에는 진 로 점검과 마무리 상담이 집중되었다. 채널별로는 대면 상담이 심층적 주제에, 비대면 상담이 단순 행정적 주제에 효과적이었다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the characteristics and effects of early college counseling for freshmen in an interdisciplinary studies program, specifically those intending to major in the humanities, social sciences, or business. A total of 484 counseling sessions involving 136 freshmen were collected from March to June 2025 and categorized by timing, topic, and counseling channel. Cross-tabulation analysis showed a significant relationship between counseling channels (e.g., faculty office, open lounge, phone, text/KakaoTalk) and topics (e.g., major exploration, career guidance, academic information) (χ² = 193.63, df = 21, p < .001). The results indicate that counseling positively contributed to students’ major and career planning, academic and social adjustment, and emotional well-being. Counseling topics varied by timing: early-semester sessions focused on adjustment and course planning; mid-semester on major and career exploration; and late-semester on career review and wrap-up. Face-to-face counseling was more effective for in-depth topics, while non-face-to-face channels were suited for administrative or informational matters. This study highlights the need for customized counseling strategies based on timing, topic, and channel preferences. It also acknowledges its limitation in focusing on specific academic tracks and suggests future research comparing other majors and exploring the potential of AI-based counseling systems.
