Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between patriarchal thinking, awareness of children’s rights, and attitude toward professional responsibility in child abuse among nursing students, and to identify the factors influencing their attitude. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Participants in this study were 171 nursing students from three universities located in the metropolitan area. Data was collected from 20 August to 21 September 2024, using structured questionnaires and analyzed with the SPSS WIN program. Result: Attitudes toward professional responsibility in child abuse were correlated with patriarchal thinking (r=-.30, p<.001) and awareness of children's rights (r=.34, p<.001). There was also a correlation between patriarchal thinking and awareness of children's rights (r=-.20, p<.001). Results showed that both patriarchal attitudes and awareness of children's rights (β=.30, p<.001) were significant predictors. It was found that these variables could explain 22% of the subjects’ attitudes toward professional responsibility in child abuse(F=10.49, p<.001). Among the general characteristics, religion also showed a statistically significant association. Conclusion: To enhance the professional responsibility of nursing students in child abuse, it is necessary to raise the awareness of children's rights and instill correct patriarchal thinking.
