Purpose: This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of grit on the relationship between social support and academic self-efficacy among nursing students. Methods: Participants included 207 nursing students from a certain region, with data collected between April and May 2025. Data analyses were conducted using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: Significant differences in academic self-efficacy were observed according to academic performance (F=11.75, p<.001), college life satisfaction (F=6.19, p=.002), health status (F=9.59, p<.001), and motivation for choosing nursing as a major (F=6.38, p<.001). Grit was found to partially mediate the relationship between social support and academic self-efficacy. Conclusion: Grit partially mediates the relationship between social support and academic self-efficacy, attenuating the direct effect of social support while enhancing students’ confidence in their academic abilities. To improve academic self-efficacy, various educational strategies should be implemented at an early stage in universities to foster positive academic experiences. Programs designed to cultivate grit may help nursing students achieve better academic outcomes and increased self-efficacy.
