국문 초록

본 연구는 1951년 1월부터 12월까지 발간된 『日本及日本人』에 수록된 약 122개 기사 중 평화와 재무장 문제를 다룬 글을 선별하여, 전후 일본 지식인들 사이에서 전개된 평화와 안보 개념에 관한 논의를 분석한다. 연구 시기로 1951년을 설정한 것은 한국전쟁과 샌프란시스코 강화조약을 둘러싸고 일본의 국가 진로를 둘러싼 지식인들의 논의가 활발히 이루어졌기 때문이다.『日本及日本人』은 세이쿄샤(正教社)가 1907년에 창간한 정치평론지로, 당시 엘리트 정치가, 관료, 교육자, 지식인들이 필진으로 참여하여 국가 전략과 전후 일본의 방향성을 논의하는 장이었다. 본고는 『日本及日本人』에 나타난 국제정세와 평화인식, 비무장 논쟁, 사회주의 진영의 평화 인식 등을 중심으로 전후 초기 일본 지식인들이 인식한 평화주의의 개념과 내부적 모순 및 한계를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 통해 전후 일본 평화주의 담론의 성격과 기원을 이해하는데 기여하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the debates over the concepts of peace and security among Japanese intellectuals in the immediate postwar period, based on selected articles from Nihon Oyobi Nihonjin published between January and December 1951. Out of approximately 122 articles, those addressing issues of peace and rearmament were chosen for detailed examination. The year 1951 is a particularly significant period, as the Korean War and the San Francisco Peace Treaty spurred active discussions among intellectuals concerning Japan’s future national course. Nihon Oyobi Nihonjin, a political commentary magazine founded by Seikyōsha in 1907, served as a forum where elite politicians, bureaucrats, educators, and intellectuals discussed national strategies and the direction of postwar Japan. Focusing on articles dealing with international affairs, perceptions of peace, debates over disarmament, and socialist perspectives on peace, this study seeks to elucidate the concept of pacifism as perceived by early postwar Japanese intellectuals, as well as to uncover its internal contradictions and limitations. Ultimately, this analysis aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the nature and origins of postwar Japanese pacifist discourse.
