공작새 상징에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 공작새의 생태학적 특성과 신화와 전설, 우화, 문학작품, 종교, 예술 등의 문헌을 통해 보편적인 상징성을 고찰하고, 그 내용을 토대로 모래놀이치료 사례에서 등장하는 공작새의 상징적 의미를 분석심리학적 관점에서 이해하고자 하였다. 공작새의 상징성은 신성성, 길상과 부귀, 아름다움, 권세(힘), 치유와 재생, 불멸 등의 측면으로 나타났다. 모래놀이치료 사례에 표현된 공작새의 상징성을 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫 번째 사례에서는 임신 시 스트레스와 우울감이 있었던 모(母)로 인해 정서적인 영향을 많이 받은 내담 청소년이 근원적이고 무의식적인 내면의 신성성을 표현하였다. 두 번째 사례에서는 무의식에 잠재되어 있는 화려하고 당당한 힘의 측면으로, 세 번째 사례는 날개를 활짝 편 공작새의 자부심을 과시하고 싶은 권위적인 힘의 측면으로 나타났다. 마지막 사례에는 20대 미혼모 여성의 사례로, 공작새가 독충이나 독뱀의 해악으로부터 병을 치유하고 재생할 수 있는 해독작용의 가능성을 시사하였다. 또, 자신의 기품 있고 고귀한 아름다움이 날개를 펼치지 못하고 무의식에 잠재된 상태를 공작새를 통해 의식화하는 과정을 보여주었다. 내담자들은 모래놀이 치료에서 공작새가 가진 여러 상징성을 통하여 내면 깊이 잠재되어 있는 다양한 본능을 표현하면서 의식화하는 과정을 경험하였고, 상담자에게는 내담자에 대한 좀 더 깊은 이해와 공감, 수용의 관점에서 의의가 있는 연구이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore the universal symbolic meanings of the peacock by examining its ecological characteristics and its depictions in myths and legends, fables, literary works, religion, and art. Based on these considerations, the study seeks to understand the symbolic meaning of the peacock in sandplay therapy cases from an analytical psychology perspective. The symbolism of peacocks was considered in six aspects: sacredness, good fortune and wealth, beauty, power (power), healing and regeneration, and immortality, and we looked at how these symbols were expressed in the process of sand play therapy. As a result of examining the symbolism of peacocks in the sand play treatment case, In the first case an adolescent client who was emotionally influenced by a mother experiencing stress and depression during pregnancy expressed their fundamental and unconscious inner sanctity. In the second case, it appeared in terms of the colorful and imposing power latent in the unconscious, and the third case in terms of the authoritative power that wanted to show off the pride of the peacock with its wings wide open. The last case was a case of a single mother woman in her 20s, who expressed the possibility of a detoxification action that allowed peacocks to heal and regenerate diseases from the harms of poisonous insects or poisonous snakes. She also demonstrated the process of realizing the state in which her elegant and noble beauty could not spread her wings and was latent in the unconscious through the peacock. Clients experienced the process of consciousness while expressing various hidden instincts through the symbolism of peacocks in sand play therapy, and for counselors, it is a significant study from the perspective of deeper understanding, empathy, and acceptance of clients.
