예비유아교사의 시민의식이 민주시민교육 교수능력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 예비유아교사의 시민의식 및 민주시민교육 교수능력의 전반적인 경향, 시민의식과 민주시민교육 교수능력 간의 관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울과 경기도 지역 3년제 유아교육과에 재학 중인 학생 226명이었으며, 설문조사를 통해 수집된 자료는 기술통계, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비유아교사의 시민의식 및 민주시민교육 교수능력은 보통 수준보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 예비유아교사의 시민의식과 민주시민교육 교수능력 간에는 정적인 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 예비유아교사의 시민의식은 민주시민교육 교수능력에 영향을 미쳤으며, 시민의식 하위변인의 영향력은 권리의식, 책임의식, 공동체의식, 합리적 의사결정의식 순으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 예비유아교사의 시민의식은 민주시민으로서의 자질이자 행위의 방향성으로 예비유아교사의 민주시민교육 교수능력에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다는 점을 시사하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to investigate the overall patterns of civic awareness and teaching proficiency in democratic citizenship education among pre-service early childhood teachers, and the connection between civic awareness and teaching proficiency in democratic citizenship education. The research was conducted on 226 students who were enrolled in departments of early childhood education, a 3-year teacher education program, at colleges in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Data were collected through a survey and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The findings of this study indicate that civic awareness and teaching proficiency in democratic citizenship education among pre-service early childhood teachers were marginally higher compared to the average level. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between civic awareness and teaching proficiency in democratic citizenship education. Furthermore, the relative impact of teaching proficiency in democratic citizenship education on civic awareness was found to have statistically significant differences, and the consciousness of rights had the most significant impact among the sub-variables of civic awareness. This study highlights the significance of the civic awareness of pre-service early childhood teachers in their capacity to teach democratic citizenship education, as it is a characteristic and direction of action as a democratic citizen.
