생태전환교육을 반영한 초등 3학년 ‘물질의 성질’ 단원 지도 사례 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 생태전환교육을 반영하여 ‘물질의 성질’ 단원을 재구성하고 이를 초등학교 3학년 학생들에게 적용하여 교육적 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 초등학교 3학년 40명이었고 재구성한 ‘물질의 성질’ 단원 16차시를 적용하였다. 물질의 성질 단원을 적용하기 전⋅후에 서술형 평가와 생태전환 소양 검사를 실시하였다. 서술형 평가와 생태전환 소양 검사의 결과는 대응 표본 t-검증하였고 학생들의 활동 결과와 소감을 함께 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 물질의 성질 단원의 성취는 1.9점에서 4.1점으로 향상되었고 사후 평가는 사전보다 통계적으로 유의하게 높았다. ‘물체와 물질의 이해’뿐만 아니라 ‘물질이 환경에 미치는 영향’과 ‘생태전환의 실천’에 대한 문항에서도 통계적으로 유의한 향상이 있었다. 둘째, 생태전환 소양 검사의 분석결과 인지적, 정의적 및 실천적 영역과 전체 사후 점수가 통계적으로 유의하게 향상되었다. 하지만 인지적 영역의 환경 문제와 해결책에 관한 지식, 정의적 영역의 생태적 시민성, 실천적 영역의 정치⋅법적 실천의 범주에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 앞으로 초등학교에서 다양한 관점과 형태의 생태전환교육을 실행하여 학습자들의 특성과 각 학교의 여건에 적합한 생태전환교육이 정착되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to reorganize the “Properties of Materials” unit in third grade elementary school to reflect ecological transformation education and apply it to students to analyze educational effects. The subjects of the study were 40 third grade elementary school students. The reconstructed unit “Properties of Matter” was applied to the sixteenth session. A descriptive evaluation and an ecological transformation literacy test were conducted before and after the unit on properties of materials. The results of the descriptive evaluation and the ecological transformation literacy test were subjected to a paired-sample t-test, and the students’ activity and impressions were analyzed together. The results of the study were as follows. First, the average achievement results of the Properties of Materials unit improved from 1.9 points to 4.1 points, and the post-assessment increased to a statistically significantly greater extent than the pre-test. A statistically significant improvement was seen for responses to questions regarding understanding of objects and materials as well as for impact of materials on the environment and practice of ecological transformation. Second, the analysis of the ecological transformation literacy test showed that the cognitive, affective, and practical domains and the overall post-scores were statistically significantly improved. However, no statistically significant differences were seen in the categories of knowledge of environmental problems and solutions in the cognitive domain, ecological citizenship in the affective domain, or political and legal practice in the practical domain. We hope that by implementing ecological transformation education from various perspectives and in various forms in elementary schools, ecological transformation education that is suitable to learner characteristics and school conditions will be established.
