범죄피해상담사의 대리외상 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 범죄피해상담사의 대리외상 경험에 관한 질적 연구로 범죄피해상담사가 경험한 대리외상에 대해 내러티브 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 연구는 내러티브 탐구 방법에 따라 10년 이상 활동한 범죄피해상담사 3명을 대상으로 했다. 연구결과는 연구참여자의 경험과 이야기에 따라‘우연히 시작하다,’ ‘열정적으로 몰입되다,’ ‘혼돈이 생기다,’ ‘한계와 마주하다,’ ‘갈등을 경험하다,’ ‘아픔을 공감하다,’ 그리고 ‘성장으로 나아가다’로 재구성하였다. 연구결과에 따른 논의는 첫째, 범죄피해상담사의 대리외상은 신체적, 인지적, 정서적, 관계적 측면에서 소진 경험이었다. 둘째, 범죄피해상담사의 대리외상 과정은 새로운 영역에 적응해가는 상담사의 적응 및 소진 과정과 유사하다. 셋째, 범죄피해상담사의 대리외상 극복은 상담사 개입의 한계를 수용하고 상담사의 치료적 역량 강화를 통해 전문성 향상과 범죄피해상담사로서의 정체성을 형성하는 경험이 되었다. 본 연구는 범죄피해상담사의 대리외상 경험의 의미와 본질을 탐구하려는 내러티브 연구로 범죄피해자 상담에서 경험한 상담사의 대리외상을 이해하려는 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is the Qualitative Research on the experience of vicarious trauma of crime victim counselors. This study was conducted on three crime victim counselors who have been active for more than 10 years according to the narrative inquiry method. According to the participants’ experiences and episodes, the study results were reconstructed in the aspects of: “accidentally begin,” “passionately immersed,” “get confused and dazed,” “standing at a deadlock,” “conflict just got experienced,” “pain now shared,” and “stepping into growth.” The discussion according to the research results is given as follows. First, the vicarious trauma experience of the crime-victim counselor was exhaustion in terms of physical, cognitive, emotional, and relational aspects. Second, the proxy trauma process of crime-victim counselors was shown to be similar to the adaptation and exhaustion process of counselors adapting to new areas of expertise. Third, overcoming vicarious trauma of crime-victim counselors has turned out to be an experience of enhancing their expertise and also of establishing identity as a crime-victim counselor by accepting the limitations of their intervention and strengthening the capabilities as a therapist. As this study is the one of the narrative inquiries that aims to inquire the fundamental meaning and nature of the vicarious trauma experience that most crime-victim counselors suffer from, so, the aim of this study is to comprehend the vicarious trauma experience of the crime-victim counselors who have experienced during their counseling.
