국문 초록

본 연구에서는 중학교 교육과정의 개선 과제와 방안을 탐색하였다. 이를 위하여 중학교 교육과정 차원에서 현행 중학교 교육의 방향, 자유학기(학년)제, 중학교 교육의 개선측면에서의 선행연구 등을 분석하였고, 현장 전문가들을 대상으로 한 면담을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 중학교 교육은 성공적인 학교 교육과정을 구현하기 위해 노력하고 있고, 자유학기제 등에서 여러 긍정적인 변화를 겪고 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 그렇긴 해도, 중학교 교육은 교육의 정체성과 위상을 확고히 하는 것과 더불어 질적 개선의 필요성도 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로, 중학교 교육의 위상을 재정립할 필요성과 더불어 개선의 지향 방향을 제시하였다. 구체적으로, 기본적인 교과 탐구 능력의 개발, 소질과 적성을 고려한 진로탐색 촉진, 주체성 및 문화이해 능력 발달 지원, 공동체 시민 역량 함양 교육을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored the improvement tasks and plans of the middle school curriculum. To do this, the current middle school curriculum was analyzed in various approaches. In terms of the current direction of middle school education, the free semester(grade), and improvement and innovation of middle school education, the research was conducted through an analysis of prior research and interviews with field experts. Middle school education strives to realize a successful school education. In particular, the recent free semester has undergone many positive changes. However, in the course of this change, middle school education has emerged the need for definitizing the identity and improving its quality. In this study, through the analysis of field expert’s opinions, the identity and status of middle school education were re-established and the direction of innovation was suggested. In addition, a specific reform plan for middle school education was proposed as follows: First, develop basic subjects inquiry competence. Second, promotes career exploration in consideration of student’s talent and aptitude. Third, supports the development of subjectivity and cultural understanding competence. Fourth, enhance community citizenship.
