영문 초록

In order to evaluate the clinical usefulness of cognitive function test (MMSE and BCRS) and electroencephalography as screening tests for organic mental disorder, the authors had 67 patients complete the test after undergoing electroencephalography. The results are as follows * 1) Patients with EEG abnormality scored significantly lower in MMSE and higher in BCRS than those with normal finding EEG. 2) Patients with EEG abnormality scored significantly lower in recall item of MMSE and higher in recent memory, functioning and selfcare axis of BCRS than those with normal finding EEG. 3) The distribution of abnormality in EEG was not significantly related to the degree of cognitive impairment. 4) The degree of abnormality in EEG had a positive correlation with the degree of cognitive impairment. 5) In the differential diagnosis of organic mental disorder and functional mental disorder, BCRS, MMSE, and EEG were all useful individually and combined use of all tests potentiated these usefulness.
