중·고령장애인의 심리·사회적 특성과 삶의 만족도에 관한 연구: 경제활동 요인의 매개효과를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애인의 경제활동이 매개하여 인구학적 특성, 심리·사회 특성에 따라 삶의 만족도에미치는 영향을 분석하여 장애인의 중·고령 이후 만족한 생활을 영위할 수 있는 지원체계와 방안을마련하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 한국장애인개발원 ‘장애인 삶’ 패널조사 데이터를 활용하여 주요 변수의 차이를 비교하기 위한 차이 분석과 중·고령 장애인의 심리·사회적 특성이 종속변수인 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 위계적 회귀분석, 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 Baron과Kenny(1986)의 Sobel test를 활용하였다. 연구에서 나타난 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중· 고령 장애인의 인구학적 특성 요인 중 결혼여부, 가구원수, 학력, 장애유형, 거주지 규모 요인은 심리·사회적요인과 삶의 만족도에 차이가 있었다. 결혼한 경우의 가구는 4인가구, 학력은 고학력일수록 우울감이 심하고 다른 심리·사회적 요인이나 삶의 만족도 요인은 오히려 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 거주지 요인은 중소도시나 읍, 면 지역에 거주하는 경우가 자아존중감이나 삶의 만족도가 높으나 건강요인의 경우는 반대로 대도시 지역이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 장애유형별로는 정신장애가모든 심리·사회적 요인과 삶의 만족도 요인이 낮으며 신체장애의 경우는 내부보다 외부 신체장애가낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중·고령 장애인의 심리·사회적 요인은 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는것으로 나타났다. 먼저, 중·고령 장애인의 인구학적 특성의 장애유형, 장애정도, 학력, 결혼, 거주지규모와 심리·사회적 요인인 장애수용, 우울, 자아존중감, 가족건강성 모두 통계적으로 유의미한영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 중·고령장애인의 심리·사회적 요인과 삶의 만족도 관계에서경제활동은 매개효과가 있다. 즉, 장애수용, 우울, 자아존중감, 가족건강성은 매개변수인 경제활동(취업여부)에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 중·고령장애인의 삶의 만족도를 높일 수 있는 경제활동 참여를 위한 방안들을 제언하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중·고령 장애인의 삶의 만족도를 높이기 위해서는 중·고령 장애 인구의 인구학적 특성을 고려한 차별화되고 맞춤형 정책개발과 개입이 필요하며 이를 고려한 맞춤형 고용지원과 정책개발을 위한 연구와 플렛폼 개발이 시급하다. 둘째, 중·고령장애인의 일을 통한 사회참여와 삶의 만족도를 높이기위한 건강지원과 심리·사회적 지원체계를 구축하여 지원할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 중·고령 장애인이 적극적인 경제활동 참여가 경제활동만이 아니라 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향요인이 큰 만큼 이에 대한사회적 공감대와 인식개선을 위한 다양한 지원방안들이 고려될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to prepare a support system and plan for the disabled to lead a satisfactory life after their old age by analyzing the effects of economic activities of the disabled on life satisfaction according to demographic characteristics, psychological and social characteristics. To this end, the analysis of differences to compare differences in major variables using the data from the panel survey of the “Life of the Disabled” of the Korea Disabled Development Institute, hierarchical regression analysis to find out the effect of psychological and social characteristics of the elderly with disabilities on life satisfaction, a dependent variable, and the Sobel test of Baron and Kenny (1986) were used to find out the mediating effect. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, among the demographic characteristics of the elderly with disabilities, the factors of marital status, number of household members, educational background, disability type, and residence size differed in psychological and social factors and life satisfaction. In the case of married households, those with four members tend to have higher levels of depression, In the case of married households, those with four members tend to have higher levels of depression, the higher the education level, the more severe the depression, and the higher the other psychological and social factors and life satisfaction factors were found to be. In terms of residential factors, self-esteem and life satisfaction were higher in those living in small and medium-sized cities or towns and villages, but in terms of health factors, they were higher in large cities. In terms of disability type, mental disorders were found to have lower scores in all psychological and social factors and life satisfaction factors, and in terms of physical disabilities, external physical disorders were found to be lower than internal ones. Second, the psychological and social factors of the elderly disabled were found to affect life satisfaction. First, the demographic characteristics of the elderly disabled, including disability type, disability level, education level, marriage, and size of residence, and the psychological and social factors, including disability acceptance, depression, self-esteem, and family health, were all found to have a statistically significant effect. Third, economic activity has a mediating effect on the relationship between psychological and social factors and life satisfaction of elderly people with disabilities. That is, it was found that disability acceptance, depression, self-esteem, and family health had a statistically significant effect on the mediating variable, economic activity (whether employed or not). Based on the results of this study, suggestions for participation in economic activities that can increase the life satisfaction of the elderly with disabilities are as follows. First, in order to increase the life satisfaction of elderly people with disabilities, differentiated and customized policy development and intervention that take into account the demographic characteristics of the elderly people with disabilities are necessary, and research and platform development for customized employment support and policy development that take this into account are urgent. Second, it is necessary to establish and support a health support and psychological/social support system to enhance the social participation and life satisfaction of elderly people with disabilities through work. Third, since the active participation of elderly people with disabilities in economic activities has a significant impact not only on economic activities but also on life satisfaction, various support measures need to be considered to improve social consensus and awareness.
