국문 초록

이 연구는 전 세계의 많은 독자층을 보유한 생텍쥐페리의「어린 왕자(Le Petit Prince」를 활용하여 학령기 아동 1,2학년을 대상으로 방과후 프로그램 내용을 구성하였다. 연구 문제는 두 가지로 방과후 프로그램의 최종안은 어떠한지, 방과후 프로그램을 실행하는 과정은 어떠한지를 중점적으로 알아보았다. 먼저 방과후 프로그램은 아동의 보편적 특성을 반영한 프로그램 구성요소를 12가지로 정하여 총 10회 활동을 두 묶음으로 제안하였다. 이렇게 제안한 이유는 고정된 방과후 프로그램보다는 운영자에 따라 융통성 있게 조정할 수 있다는 점을 전제로 한다. 또한 실행과정에서 작성한 총 43쪽의 실행일지와 2개 기관장 자문을 통해 질적 분석을 실시하여 다섯 가지의 개념을 도출하였다. 「어린 왕자(Le Petit Prince」를 각색하는 방향과 역량, 활동 기대와 목표, 활동 진행 방법, 정서 이해와 표현, 자기 성찰로 구분할 수 있었다. 각 개념 안에 두 가지 주제로 아동발달과 이해 수준 고려, 작품 이해와 연구자 역량, 기본 인성과 문해력, 경쟁과 협력을 통한 사회관계, 동기부여 발문과 활동 욕구 촉진, 이야기에서 체험활동으로, 공감과 감정 교류, 다양한 정서 표현, 활동 운영의 유연성과 연령별 맞춤 조절과 지원으로 총 10개의 주제로 분석하였다. 「어린 왕자(Le Petit Prince」활용 방과후 프로그램은 향후 유아의 사회정서역량을 키울 수 있는 방안이 될 수 있으며, 유아교육과 초등돌봄의 이음교육으로 확장하기 위해 유아 대상 방과후 과정에서 충분히 적용 가능할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study developed an after-school program for first and second-grade elementary school children using Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's widely-read classic, Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). The research focused on two main questions: identifying the final composition of the after-school program and examining the execution process of the program. Initially, the after-school program was structured into two sets comprising a total of ten sessions, based on twelve essential program components reflecting general characteristics of children. This design allowed flexibility for adaptation by individual program facilitators rather than being rigidly fixed. Qualitative analysis was conducted using detailed execution logs spanning 43 pages and consultation with two institution directors. The analysis identified five key conceptual categories: adapting Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince), anticipated outcomes and objectives, activity implementation methods, emotional understanding and expression, and self-reflection. Within these categories, ten specific themes emerged: Consideration of child development and comprehension level, Understanding the literature and researcher capabilities, Basic character development and literacy skills, Social relationships through competition and cooperation, Motivational questioning and activity desire stimulation, Transition from storytelling to experiential activities, Empathy and emotional exchange, Diverse emotional expression, Operational flexibility of activities, Age-appropriate adjustments and support. The after-school program utilizing Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) has potential implications for enhancing children's socio-emotional competencies and can effectively bridge early childhood education and elementary care, thus expanding into after-school programs tailored for preschool children.
