본 논문은 고전 교부들의 육화 이해를 바탕으로, 현대 ‘깊은 육화(Deep Incarnation)’ 신학이 제기하는 신학적 확장 가능성과 그 교의신학적 함의를 분석한다. 특히 아타나시우스의 신화(deificatio) 사상과 라너의 존재론적 육화 이해를 중심으로, 육화가 단지 인간구원의 수단이 아닌 하느님의 자기-증여로서 창조 전체에 작용하는 우주적 사건임을 조명하고자 한다. 이러한 관점은 전통 교의가 지닌 삼위일체론적 구조와 위격적 구원론의 범주 안에서, 창조와 구원, 성사와 종말 사이의 신학적 연속성을 통합하려는 시도이다. 동시에, 본 논문은 ‘깊은 육화’ 개념이 과정철학에 기반한 존재론적 내재성에 의존할 경우, 범신론적 해석의 위험성과 전통적 신론의 인격성과 초월성을 약화시킬 가능성을 지적한다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 깊은 육화 신학이 교의신학 안에서 정당하게 수용되기 위해 필요한해석학적 경계와 교의적 식별의 기준을 제시한다. 육화는 하느님의 존재가 피조물 안에실재적으로 자신을 내어주신 결정적 사건이며, 이는 고통받는 창조와의 연대 안에서 그신비가 더욱 심화된다. 교의신학은 전통에 충실하면서도, 시대의 물음 속에서 성령의 소리를 식별하는 해석의 과업으로서, 깊은 육화 신학이 제기하는 신학적 통찰을 비판적으로수용하고 재구성할 책임을 지닌다.

영문 초록

This study examines the theological implications of the modern concept of “Deep Incarnation” within the framework of Catholic dogmatic theology, based on the classical patristic understanding of the Incarnation. Drawing particularly on Athanasius’s doctrine of deificatio and Karl Rahner’s ontological interpretation of the Incarnation, this paper seeks to demonstrate that the Incarnation is not merely a means for human salvation but a cosmic event in which God’s self-communication extends to all creation. By interpreting the Incarnation as the ultimate act of divine self-giving, the study aims to integrate traditional theological categories—creation and redemption, sacrament and eschatology—within a unified dogmatic structure. At the same time, it critically addresses the theological risks posed by the philosophical presuppositions of Deep Incarnation, especially its proximity to process philosophy and panentheistic interpretations. The paper argues that for Deep Incarnation to be theologically valid within Catholic doctrine, it must be grounded in the Trinitarian personalism, the uniqueness of the Incarnation in Christ, and the freedom of divine grace. The Incarnation is thus affirmed as the decisive event of God’s real presence within creaturely reality, deepened through divine solidarity with suffering creation. Ultimately, dogmatic theology must engage with contemporary theological insights like Deep Incarnation not by abandoning tradition, but by discerning the voice of the Spirit through faithful reinterpretation of the mystery of divine revelation.
